If it were legal in the US, would you try and distill your own spirits at home? Just like it is legal to make beer and wine for home consumption, would you like to make moonshine yourself? It looks fun to me.....

Seriously, moonshine is some of the best stuff I've ever had.
Beer tastes like piss.
And yes, I would love to make it myself.

I don't know if I would go for hard liquor. Moonshine is awful plus you need to know what you are doing. Ever seen the posters that say there is a bad batch out there that is making people go blind. That's true. My mother's parents made gin in the bathtub during prohibition and it must have been pretty good. I think beer would be fun to make but then that may be my German background.

'Moonshine' can be purchased at dealers who can order
spirits. It is infrequently available at regional commercial outlets. I've seen it made. It stinks and is not my idea of fun. Commercial grade and home drippings taste remarkably alike in my opinion. 'Thinner for paint' is usual description for both. I'm not making or gulping any 'shine. I'll be sipping Southern Comfort this summer.

No . . . in addition to the possibility of exploding myself, there is a long history of people poisoning themselves into blindness, other injury, or even death from making moonshine.

It's legal here in Louisiana, but it's only suposed to be for personal use...there are a lot of guys that make it and I have had some that is incredibly smooth...it was 12 yrs. old and 9 yrs. old. These Cajuns take their drinking very seriously!

It is definitely not legal. In some areas it is somewhat tolerated, if nobody makes waves. Wave your mason jar of 'shine in front of a cop (or ATF agent) and you WILL be in deep doo-doo. Some is good; some is poisonous. You pays yer money and you takes yer chances.

I probably wouldn't. Its a more dangerous science(one of the reasons its illegal). I've known people that have made themselves really sick brewing up some toxic chemicals. I do love to make beer though.

Yeah I would fruity moonshine... like peach and stuff!! It probably wouldn't be any good, but I'd like to be able to say that I made whiskey!
