Introduction to UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice), search, haircut, removal of civilian items, initial issue (cammies, underwear, skivvie shirts, socks, etc. Paperwork, no sleep for about the first 36 hours, vaccinations, weapons issued, chow. You will stay in a forming platoon for a short while day or three before you are dropped to a training company. This is called black friday because you are introduced to your drill instructors for the first time. You be taught Marine Corps history, traditions, regulations, first aid, weapon (M16 service rifle) characteristics, rank structure. You learn more in three months than you ever thought possible and will be tested on all of these subjects. You will PT (physical training) continuously, practice drill constantly, scream every question and response. Most of your showers will last about 2 minutes and you will never be the only one using a sink or urinal. You will begin trainig in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, complete a confidence course, bayonet training, swim qualfication and the gas chamber. Field training includes various courses such as the bayonet course, infiltration course and a resupply course. There is also a week which is called "team week". During this week you are basically utilized to fill jobs and assist in learning to work as a team. Your last month will include rifle marksmanship training, qualification and a lot of hiking. Training ends with the crucible and the award of your Eagle Globe and Anchor. If you would like to learn more, ask around. There are a lot of former active duty or reserve Marines around and many still have their knowledge books from boot camp. I have a few of them. OC spray is done during MP training or riot control training prior to some deployments. Most of the Marines I knew wanted to go to jump school but that is hard to get unless you are recon or get it as a reenlistment incentive. Good Luck.

First off, congrats to a future devil dog. I am from a line of 7 NAVY, 6 MARINES, 2 ARMY. You have made a decision that will benefit you for the rest of your life, and even though I'm NAVY I am proud to know that in the future I will be serving with you. Bootcamp is different for everyone. The best thing I can tell you is that your D.I.s are the next best thing to GOD while you are in basic. DO what they say when they say it. Only the **** hot get to make MARINES and the D.I. views it as an honor to be there.
Good Luck and SEMPER FI.

VERY Motivating!!!
Just remember no matter what never give up or give in. It is the most difficult training that any service has for a reason... a Marine is one of the few for a reason. Don't take anything the drill instructors say personally. Listen to what they say, they don't hate you, they are trying to break you down and build you back up. Learn all you can and stay alert. Don't be scared, stay motivated, and stay true Devil Dog! Semper Fi Do or Die

I went through boot camp really easily, but then again I played lots of sports in high school and I weight lift and becoming a Marine was my life dream...Just remember out there you must work as a team...and if anyone falls behind help them. Do everythong they tell you...no more and no less..and do everything to the best of your ability...push yourself
Tell people to write to you becasue it hepls you keep motivated
Keep telling yourself that you'll make it
Remember boot camp is designed to get rid of the weak ones and mess with your mind..well sometimes

Stand tall and be proud. Do not get intimitated by the drill instructors. I was scared to death at 19, but learned they are looking to get the best out of you. This is a experience you will never forget. Semper Fi !

Boot camp is not hard; it just sucks. Just don't lose your mind playing the games and its no big deal. From what I've seen, the female DIs are meaner than the male DIs. My advice is to listen on the night you get there and the first day. They tell you how to do everything then.
