id have to like the truck a lot,but if i wanted good air in it i guess i would, its better than chancing a used compressor, and if its a real nice truck, its cheaper than buying a new truck,so that would be up to you,i would on my truck, and its older than yours, good luck on it.

Buying a used complete engine from a wrecked truck will not get the AC compressor. Part of engine removal is detaching the AC compressor and moving it out of the way.

I personally would not spend $1000 on a new A/C compressor for a truck which has 265K miles on it unless I were sure that I was going to replace the motor and/or transmission in the event of catastrophic failure.

There's a good chance that you might find a whole truck which has been wrecked for $1000 though. In that event you could easily collect a whole slew of parts off of it including the engine and transmission, and be prpared for failure.

I believe when you get a newer motor from a wrecked truck you get the front accessories too. So a 5.3 with all the accessories usually run in 1500-2000 range.

Keep the motor so you can use it when you need it.

If you want to keep the truck fix it. If you want to buy a new truck, don't. It's only a grand. What is that now a days, eight tanks of gas?

no... that car is probably only worth $5000 at the very most, so if you sell it you can use the money to buy a better car that is around 7,000 or so
