From the times you mentioned 1st week of December will be a bit less crowded. October isn't too bad but now Disney is decorating for Halloween and doing a few special things which increased crowds in October last year. If you go during the week there should be less people, the weekends will pick up quite a bit but not as bad as summer.
You just have to choose what interests you more, the parks decorated for Halloween or For the "holiday" season (Christmas). The holiday season at DL is great, they do an outstanding job decorating the parks and the Haunted Mansion is converted to the Holiday version with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme that's a lot of fun. This will be through October until after the first of the year since the theme fits both Halloween and Christmas.
Last year was the first year for major decorations for Halloween and they are supposed to add more every year. I haven't seen anything on special Halloween themed attractions yet this year so watch the Disney website for more information on Halloween. For Christmas Small world also has a holiday theme that will start in November. There is also a holiday parade that should start in November. Again, due to school in session weekdays will be slower but hours will be shorter also.
Thanksgiving week is busy, and the last two weeks of December and first week of January are even busier.

Either one- but th 1st week in Dec will be even less crowded as people will be waiting for Winter break to go. When we lived in Las Vegas, we always took my grandson for his birthday which is at the end of January, so it was always Super Bowl Weekend! That is, apparently, the least crowded weekend of the year! It was cool and sometimes a little drizzley, but we NEVER waited in a line! Great! have fun- Disneyland is way better than Disney World- there's nothing like the original!

aww well if you dont like the crowds, don't go during an anniversary. theres twice the people than any other year. well....you gotta wait until the new finding nemo ride doesn't get too filled up thats gonna take like about 3 months im guessing... so go somewhere near late october, early november.... summer isn't that brutal..only if you're waiting in the mile long lines that the shady areas are already taken... well.. im just guessing what i mentioned. the finding nemo ride subtracts a lot of days..with less crowds

I'd go with october. It won't be as cold and it won't be anywhere near winter vacation.
