but actually enjoy it and have no interest in starting a family? How can someone overcome the pressure from society and the media to get married, have kids, grow old together and die? I enjoy my freedom but can't stop feeling selfish for not doing what supposedly we are here to do. ????

there is nothing wrong n being single........n itz gr8 that u r actually enjoying it ...one cannot overcome pressure.......but u can take it in ur sride n not pay any attention to it.........others may be secretly jealous that u r enjoying ur freedom n they have none......but all said n done.we live our lifes for ourselves if we r not happy with it then there's really no point in just exsisting for the sake of it........so enjoy wht u have for urself n all the best......there may be a time when u will want to settle down but till then enjoy the happy phase n let life unravel itsself.......

Why should you feel guilty, you need to do what makes you happy. It shouldn't matter what anyone besides you wants you to be. If you don't want to be a wife or a mother then don't do it. If you are unhappy with who you are then everyone around you will be unhappy too. Just do what makes you happy. If in time you decide that is the path you want to take you will be able to, but don't do it to try and make everyone but you happy.

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. Most people want to be in a relationship strictly for sex. they don't to say it. To be in for the sex is to be debased or nasty. You have to have love fueling the sex to make it less sinful hedonistic etc. Those who are in a relationship, are just as selfish, or just as not selfish as you. It is that people like you scare them. Because you dare to be happy and content without the need of the opposite sex. Sex is just another commodity. Another panel of a relationship. When someone comes along and say I don't need it. It takes some of the mystique away fro it. And when you try to take the fire away from sex. Most in this society get worried because they want to believe it is the ace *** boom and all that.

Don't feel guilty. It's society and the media that should.

Your entitled to anything that makes you happy, if being on your own makes you happy then stay that way. Eventually you well know when your ready to settle down everybody is different.
