I have an interview with Cintas this week for a route sales specailist. The job, from what I understand is picking up and delivering uniforms and upselling other related products. The hiring manager said to dres to impress. I should have asked him to be more specific, but i did not. Do you think a tie and dress pants are too much? I am planning on wearing khakis and nice shirt.

As a former interviewer for HR I would advise you to wear dark pants, dress shirt and tie. You could add a sports coat too if you have one, especially since your hiring manager said to dress to impress.
Before the interview take the time to learn about the company so that you can ask questions relating to the job, specifically, their company.
Take a deep breath and relax yourself before going into the interview. Smile, have a firm handshake, answer truthfully and thoughtfully, if you don't know the answer say so. Act confident but not cocky. If they do not have your resume then bring it in a nice folder. At the end of the interview say thank you for their time and shake hands again.
I wish you well with the interview.

I used to work at their rival at Aramark and I always saw people wearing a pair of really nice pants usually black and a shirt and tie for all of their interviews I would seriously go this route cuz I think it is best for a job interview. Also try working at Aramark we hired a few people from Cintas and they all said that Cintas sucked Aramark is better

A tie and dress slacks are never out of place in an interview. Consider you future. I've always dressed like I had the better job...and have always eventually gotten it. If you feel uncomfortable so dressy, try khakis with a shirt and tie. It has a nice dress down/dress up effect. Good luck.

I'd wear a tie and dress pants. If you'd be wearing a delivery truck uniform (like UPS drivers), I think a suit would be pretentious. If it's more a sales job and you're not driving a truck, then a suit would be appropriate.

I think "dress to impress" has more to do with overall style and bearing, not exact choice of clothes. He wants someone who will instantly inspire confidence and make people want to do business with them, which is more than is demanded of a typical delivery driver. A lot of drivers are surly or distant, and that would be a killer. I think it would be essential to hide tattoos and piercings, and have a conservative haircut.

For an interview, a tie is never too much. So go ahead and wear a tie and some nice slacks. Once you are hired you can ask about the dress code.

Dress to impress usually means to wear what you would wear to a typical job interview or something you would wear out on a very interesting date! That is usually Khaki Pants or black with a formal shirt like one with a collar if you are wearing Khaki then a light blue collared shirt would go well with this however with black formal pants would look good with a white formal shirt! Good luck!!!

if he said "dress to impress" then i would wear a suit & tie" or at least a tie and dress pants (which is probably what everone else he told to "dress to impress" will wear, so go with the suit and tie. dress like the boss of a "route sales specailist" would dress. you want them to hire youy as the route sales specialist, but with more responsibility in the future. your not just interviewing for routs sales specialist, if you get that job your first impression will be remembered for promotions in the future.

No khakis and shirt. That will impress no one. Dull!
He meant a suit and tie. It's a JOB interview you goofus. To have an edge over the others wear a spiffy suit and tie. And NO white socks with black shoes either. Good luck!

If he said to dress to impress, I would wear a dark conservative suit. And a plain white cotton-blend dress shirt with a button-down collar.

Nice clean shoes and a belt that matches.

DON'T bathe in cologne! Shave before the interview.

You can never be "too" dressed up for an interview, and if you are, your way better off than be too dressed down. Dress to impress, as in dress to make an impression as a professional adult, regardless of the job you are applying for.
