Im pretty sure it was on one of the weapon shows, if anyone could tell me what that was it would help also.

EDIT: thank you for awnsering, i found out it was a japanese grenade called the "Kiska", the steps to use it was to pull out the pin then hit it on something (usually the grenadiers head) and it usually killed the soldier on the spot... ouch

added. david,the potato masher was activated by unscrewing a cap on the handle and pulling a string.

There was no grenade that was activated by hitting the soldier on the head, it was activated by striking it on the ground or against the butt of the rifle.

This style of mechanism was very common in many armies during WW1 both Allied and the opposition.

The German stick grenade WW1 & WW2 was activated by unscrewing a cap at the base of the wooden handle and pulling a chord that activated the friction ignitor fuse.

Nazis had one called a potato masher. You pushed in the handle to activate it.
