Why do some of you's think Christianity is a religion?

ok, I read the answers on here, and I am just stunned.... at some of them anyway..... I know what the dictionary says religion is, but that is NOT biblical...... and *true* Christians refer and know religion as a completly different thing than Christianity......... I will NOT apologise for this, it is just the way it is......... Religion, as for the biblical meaning is the PRACTICE of TRADITIONS within the TEMPLE of the Jewish people....... FAITH is KNOWING and BELIEVING GOD, NOT believing IN Him......... Anyone can say they believe IN God, but taking God at his word, and KNOWING it is the TRUTH takes FAITH, ............ NOT RELIGION !!!!!!!! and that is what Christianity IS........ God bless

Christianity describes many religions, not just one. Thus its not a religion according to any definition. Not even the term Christian can be described as a follower of a religion since one has to have more information, its a type of person just like Indians or Republicans are.

Christianity is a Religion because it's preaches Law while giving empty praises to God's Grace; which you don't see or hardly within the Christian community.

Secondly, Christianity is a Religion because they are using God's name in vain. They used God to promote themselves as "god" . They created the need to be needed not like Jesus Who even though He was God , lay aside His Godhood and consistently direct Men to God The Father. All True servants of The Most High God have this characteristic and that is - directing others away from themselves but instead direct them toward full dependency on God and Him alone.
Thirdly Jesus came to rid the world of religions to established HIS KINGDOM on Earth as it is in HEAVEN.
He is The King of kings, and LORD of lords, and His citizen are all born from above - a spiritual birth. They all answers to The Lordship of Jesus Christ until He bring the whole world under His feet (His Body that is, as part of the body is the feet- which is the True Church) In other words the true Church-The Body of Christ with Christ living in each of the cells and members of His Body will rise to the occasion and bring the world of satanic forces and the whole of God's creation under subjection when the Church comes to full maturity. Right now , you don't see that yet, the manifestation of the Sons of God as the Church is still not ready yet but God is at all time.

Fourthly as long as the Church follows and subject themselves to the system of the world , they cannot be free from the Prince World. the word of God put it this way, "Love not the world neither the ways of the world, if you love the world , the love of the Father is not in you. You cannot serves two master."

The True Church of Jesus Christ is outside of the world system. It is run by God's system and the Agent administering the Kingdom of God is the HOLY Spirit who answers and direct men to Christ. And when all has come into it's rightful places, Christ will delivered all things, all creations over to God The Father.

Christianity is not a Religion but a relationship with God and growing into Christ until a mature co-operate New Man as Christ the Head is form. Then God will introduced a brand New World. The old heaven and earth will be dissolved and a new order established called The New Jerusalem - Mount Zion coming down from Heaven and a New Heaven and Earth will meet. Earth and Heaven, just like the Garden of Eden once was; where Heaven touches earth and Man walk and talk with God.

Wow! I don't believes many will understand what I just said but blessed are those who do!

so much that you could call each other friends

and most of the apostles were called a friend of God even Moses

I have a personal relationship with my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! He is far more than just a friend.

I despise the word religion because it brings up pictures of "having a form of godliness but denying the power." Ritual, dogma, and everything but real life in Christ.

It is. Of course all the religious nuts will insist that it's not a religion but a 'relationship with God', but a relationship with a supernatural creator is very much within the scope of the definition of religion.

Christianity isn't a religion it is a way of life a way of the truth.
Why do you think it has been persecuted for so long and yet never die? Religion is a guideline that you connect your way of life with, like a Catholic can be a Christan and still is considered Catholic or a Jew , Christan but their still considered Jewish.So I kind of agree with you but in a different way.Hope that helps bye

Because they do not understand the difference of being a Christian, or being "religious" or "practicing a particular religion".

Being a Christian is accepting the gift of salvation Jesus gives us, IF we believe He died for our sins and paid the price by taking our punishment on the cross.

Practicing a religion, is just aligning ourselves with a group of people who subscribe to the same thoughts and beliefs we do.

Christianity isnt a religion Jesus was a not a Christian. Basically Christianity is being a disciple. and people think it is a religion because they dont know truth they just believe what they are told. there part of the world.
