I read an article somewhere on the internet about flushing something related to the oil that would keep my Durango running smooth. The writing suggested that there would be oil build up, sludge, somewhere in the engine that the dealer does not maintanance. Can anyone help me?

If you have regular oil changes (every 3000 miles) you will never have to worry about that

If you maintain regular maintenance with a quality oil and filter and follow the severe service schedule, about every 3,000 miles, you should not need an engine flush.

If it is already sludged up some, flushes wash that sludge into the oil pan where it can clog up the oil pump screen.

I'd avoid the flushes and just keep your oil changed on a regular basis.

Yes there's a product called 5 minute Mortor Flush next to the oil supplies but you can also use kerosene it's about the same thing if you read the label. Cheaper to)= Just let your engine run for 5 minutes after you put it in before you change your oil.NOTE make sure your oil level is full before you add any type of cleaning products to it you could harm you engine more than helping it.

Not many people today are plagued with oil sludge unless they use a paraffin based oil and do not drive long enough to get their engines fully warmed up every time.
If you drive a lot of short trips without your engine reaching full operating temperature, I would worry about it. If your trips warm the engine up to full operating temperature, you will have no problem with sludge buildup, so need for a flush.

In a normally maintained engine there is no need for an engine flush, the solvent in the flush might harm seals and engine parts if anything.

Sure if you got a 40's engine.(and never change your oil) Get with it. Sludge my hine. I have yet to find that. If you change your oil regular. ...there won't be this sludge. I love this "somewhere in the engine" Scare tactics.

wow...I was zoning out when I read this..... Like at work, when Christy and Lori got in a fight because Christy said Lori was copying her new hairstyle and then Lori said Christy was the copycat because she got the EXACT SAME skirt and tried to look better in it by putting it with the really cool black boots instead of the black heels, and she got the skirt cheaper anyway, it was 40% off on the sale rack... My head was hurting
