The First Amendment protects you from being arrested for expressing you beliefs, so you cannot be arrested just for protesting. But you also have to consider your manner of protesting, because you can be arrested for disturbing the peace (if your protest disrupts people in the area from going about their activities), trespassing, or things like that.

You can protest, it's your 1st amendment right to do so that is so long as you're not disrupting the peace, block the streets or preventing stores to presume business. Just don't commit any crimes while your protesting it's not that hard. That also goes for being under the influence.

Depends on what you do. If you post a big sign over a freeway (on an overpass) that might be considered a visual distraction to drivers. Stepping into traffic a definite No No. Placing posters on a lamp pole or power pole is usually illegal and they will only do something if they see you doing it. Putting up posters on a business, yep a No No. In general terms if you infringe on the rights of others "you" are out of line.

It will vary from town to town. You need to make sure of what you can and cannot do in each jurisdiction.

Generally if you are on private property you are safe, unless your into burning crosses and it can be viewed from a public street. Public protest in some places require permits. You do have the right to assemble in this country (U.S.) to protest. By the way I know all of this because I am THE ALL AMERICAN!!!!

Yes and they do it all of the times.

Even cops that protest can get in trouble.

Remember the Blue Flu?

Blue Flu

The cop's version of going on strike. Since they can't legally strike they all call in sick.

When the city threatened to reduce pensions, the NYPD came down with a bad case of the blue flu.
