That's my story and I'm wondering if I'm alone.

I used to be a worship pastor in a large church, I served years in all sorts of ministries and even went to a Christian colledge to study religion.

I think I come to R&S because I wish that someone else had woken me up earlier and hope that I could do that for someone.

atheist probably have the best understanding of religion as a whole. I guarantee every atheist on here has read books about multiple religions looking for an answers. unlike close minded fundies they read one book and think they have lightning in a bottle. education = atheism or millionaire preacher

I was a Christian, but never a fundamentalist. My dad was a Methodist minister, and although not the most liberal of his peers, he never took the Bible as 100% literal. I was never pressured to believe creationism, and he accepts some levels of evolution, although I don't think he fully understands it.

In high school I spent a lot of time with Campus Crusade for Christ people, who were fundamentalists. I was easily influenced in those days.

Same old fear of those that have the education and intellect to know the truth and live in reality! What a pity you have to live with such a bitterness and sense of failure! Why is it so hard for you to live with the idea that other people believe differently to yourself?

I shudder to recall the times I tried to 'convert' people with my ignorance. And this was AFTER the 'new christian syndrome' had worn off.

Sorry.

Not me, I was raised "catholic", but never really commited 100% percent. It was more like tradition. Now I'm 100% atheist.
