I also feel that you need a different therapist. If you haven't told your parents why you want a different one, you might make an appeal to them again and explain that the therapy with this one is not working. If they still won't let you change therapist, then insist that the therapist tell you why he doesn't want to talk about certain issues or just tries to move on past those issues. The majority of persons who feel like suicide do not really want to take their lives. They want a change from the current circumstances in which they find themselves. I remember wanting to commit suicide when I was 14, and the only way I got through it was to read a lot of my favorite types of books. That was not a miracle cure by any means, but with books I felt like I was in my own little world where my parents could not reach me or poke their nose into. I'm not sure if that's any help to you, but I just wanted to say something and let you know that I care, and there are others on here who care. You are a good person and you deserve to live, it's just that you are hurting right now. Depression is one of the worst pains I've ever felt.

Wow, I am sorry that life is so hard for you. I was not really depressed until I was 18. You really need to get another therapist.
Someone that you feel is on your side. Can you appeal to the school counselor? How about a pastor, priest or youth group leader.
In the meantime, while you are really struggling here are some things to try. Get out and walk, swim or bike every day for at least half an hour. This actually does some of the same things that depression drugs do.
Also, natural therapies are not as strong as depression meds but they have a clinically measurable effect.
You should be taking a good multi-vitimin every day that is high in b vitimins-this helps with anxiety, next you should be taking fish oil capsules every day-get the enteric coated ones so you don't taste the oils and take it before bed-this has shown in actual clinical trials to aid people getting over depression-it does not replace depression medications but aids them.
And lastly you should take St. John's Wort caps 2 times a day till you feel better. MAKE SURE that if they put you on any doctors medications for depression to go off the St. John's Wort because it acts similarly to common depression meds so you would be getting too much.

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.
Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.
Depression Free Method?

I don't know about medication for teens but I do know that life as a teenager is hard. But you have to keep moving on. You have your whole life ahead of you and if it is so bad that you are thinking of suicide then that tells me that things can only get better. Have you told your parents that your therapist don't want to discuss the issues that you need to? School will be starting soon maybe you should try your guidance counselor. I hope things get better for you and I wish I could do more. Good luck.

The pills only cause thoughts of suicide in some people (the minority). If there is something wrong with you then they may help you. Just make sure there is someone close to take an eye on you and if you start having suicidal thoughts stop taking them and see the doctor as soon as possible. Therapy is good if it works but it doesnt work for everyone. Good luck fighting it :-)

before u turn to medication ( because of the side affects and the fact that some may become addicting) , you need to determine what in your life is making u so depressed. u are only 14 years old, u are too young to so worried and so depressed. u should be out being a teenager. Also, suicide is definitely not the answer hun.... life is too good. apparently your therapist is not doing her job. and that is exactly what u need to tell him. granite u are only 14, but it is never too young to stick up for yourself. your parents hired him! he is working for u! so u tell that man to do his job! cause this is a human life he is dealing with. well thats all i can really say... i hope it all works out for u... if u need someone to talk to IM me or email me, okay...

There are "pills" a 14 year old can take, but they have to be watched while taking them,
Taking meds for depression does not cure it though they only help, you still need therapy or counseling to learn to do some of the Healing your self.
I hate to hear of a person such as you having thoughts of suicide, your life is just beginning and depression as you are with treatment can and will get better.
Do you see a Familiy Dr.? if you do you could discuss this with him/her. and you can google "suicide hot lines" and speak with someone there, they also have warm lines for people who are just upset.
NAMI has community message boards for Teens, and another site I found in the UK called mad not bad. also has a lot of information.
Hang in there, you deserve to be happy and listened to..

Hey buddy,
Sorry life is so hard for you right now. First, I hope you know that it's not your fault. You didn't do anything wrong to have depression. It's in your brain.
Your mom and dad and your therapist are all trying to help you. If what they are doing isn't helping, I think they would listen if you told them that you didn't think the therapy was working. Maybe depression isn't the problem. It's rare for children to develop depression while the brain is still growing. There are medicines that might work, but mostly you need to let your brain grow! It's going to change a lot in the next few years.
If you ever feel suicidal, don't just sit on it. Talk to somebody. Talk to me, you can find my email here on answers. Life is too good for you to ruin it for yourself. I know it's hard to see the sun behind the clouds, but that doesn't mean that it's not there. You just need to hang on. Better days will come.
