I'm not sure at all. But I'm pretty sure that if there is any survival of personal consciousness, what awaits us is as far beyond our present level of comprehension as the facts of where cat food REALLY comes from are understandable by your average cat.
In any case, I'm not too worried about it at this point. I'm too busy concentrating on living the life I know I have to the best of my ability.

Well nobody is very clear about it except your unconscious. But when you wake up you won't remember that part, anyway. I don't know what religion your are but Lazarus and Jesus came right back here. Resurrection raise again, to the same the Jews always believed. I wouldn't imagine it would be too weird as that would be no fun. Probably the same thoughts you have now, with or without a body. In your mind you can imagine anything and I suppose that would be your reality until you decided another. You would probably be able to decide what reality was for you and as you wanted to change could imagine something else. If that's what you already thought you could do it from the git if it didn't make you too uncomfortable. remember, every God is a loving one. You might have some unconscious thoughts that might hassle you but that's true now and you will be more able to handle them consciously when you are ready. I think we where meant to be involved in this life. The smoother you make it here, the smoother there. Not so threatening, huh? You know you can ask God or the spirit. Your spirit speaks to you where you pray, in your thoughts. You just have to figure out which thoughts are from your mind and which from your spirit. The rule of thumb is a mild thougts, never judging, that's Bod's rule, isn't it? Usually not a thought you pay attention to, those are your thoughts. Einstein said, "If a thought makes sense at first, there's no hope for it." Evangelist's say "If it makes sense, it's probably not from God." or the equivalent. If you keep at it Jesus said, "My sheep know my voice." It's like on the phone. Technically your talking to a telephone, but you say your talking to you mom, right? God answers prayer.

The definitive mark of a Bible-believing Christian is that he knows for sure exactly what will happen to him when he dies. He has absolute assurance.
If you are counting on your works to save you, (my good will outweigh my bad), then there is always a doubt that your works may not be good enough. The Bible says repeatedly that your works will never be good enough.
Here is what it takes to go to heaven on your own merits:
#1. You must be able to live a perfect life. You must keep every single point of the Old Testament law flawlessly. You must maintain absolute control of your thoughts and your lusts. If you fail on even one point, you've lost it.
If you are able to completely fulfill #1, then,
#2. You must be able to erase all sin committed from the time you were old enough to know right and wrong to the time you made a decision to proceed with #1. None of us are able to change the past. A perfect fulfillment of #1 only takes care of itself. It cannot address #2 here. Some people foolishly believe that a water baptism can address #2. Others foolishly believe that their priest can grant absolution here. Neither one is Biblical.
So, if you were able to perfectly fulfill #1 from the time you were old enough to know right and wrong, then #2 is covered. If not, you have a problem.
#3. You must have some way of dealing with original sin. As a child of Adam you must inevitably die. You are a born sinner if you have a human father who is a sinner. The solution to this is to be virgin born. This way, even if your mother is a sinner, it won't affect you. Sin is inherited through the paternal seed, not the maternal seed.
Again, some folks think that water baptism or sacraments can address this problem. Bible says you're wrong on both counts.
The Bible is absolutely clear that when a sinner believes on Jesus Christ, a complete, irreversible exchange is made. All of his sin debt for #1, 2, and 3 (above), along with all of God's wrath against that sinner, is instantly transferred to Calvary. He will never face judgment for sin again. His spirit is born again. His soul is eternally saved and secure. His body will still die, but even that will be born-again at the resurrection.
Born one, die twice. Born twice, die once.
When you die you are either in Adam, or in Jesus Christ. Pick one. If you are in Jesus Christ you have absolute security. If you are in Adam, you haven't got a chance.

I'm not sure what happens either. I've been with 2 people when they died, this past year, and I've seen peace and serenity on their faces when they finally left their diseased bodies. I'm curious but it's inevitable so I just try to live each day like it's my last and hopefully, I too, will die without fear.

I'm willing to admit I am sure. In this environment that seems a pointless thing to do, but I will.

The Bible is pretty clear on this subject. Make a study on Hell, Hades, Heaven, Death and see what you come up with. I did this for a term paper in college and I don't doubt what will happen.

I'll admit I don't know with 100% certainty what will happen but I'm okay with the idea of nothing after it.

I do not understand your confusion. A person will either go to heaven and be with the Father nad Jesus Christ or you will spend all eternity in what is called hell with Satan and his angels.

No one knows for sure what happens when we die. Anyone who won't admit that is delusional or a liar.

I know where I will go. Don't lose your faith. Jesus promised that He was going to prepare a place for you and for ALL of His children (the believers.) If He said it's true, I believe it.
