I run 6/7 miles almost every night, same path almost every time depending on my work out day. Anyways, I was about half way and past a group of annoying idiots (a year or so younger than me), I am 19.

I didn't hear anything the first time I can by, I had my headphones on, I can around the cultasack and heard "Run Forest run" the time coming back. I stopped and said, you have a ****ing problem? He was like 17 and not whimp, he was in a drive way with like 3 other guys and somebodies dad. He said, "keep running *****", blah blah and kept talking. I just stood there standing tough, didn't show a flinch when he was trying to act tough in front of his friends. Eventually I said...."You are a real dumbass, good job making yourself look like an idiot", then he got pissed and walked into the drive way (I was across the street).

I am in very good shape, 6 pack, bench quite a bit more than my weight (145), 6 foot, legs are pure muscle.

Would you have done something?

I didn't even bother, his butt buddies would have had to help his douche bag friend. I was on the long stretch home (mile or more) and saw their truck come, two of them, one tossed a dr pepper out the window, didn't even come close. I grabbed it just in case they came back to toss at their stupid truck, grabbed a rock to.

I usually carry a knife with me as well, that stupid cocky kid wont be so fortunate if he does come through with his **** talk.

Violence is definitely not the answer here. They're just kids acting like kids. They probably do it to everyone they see go by, as long as they're in a group. If they were alone like you were I'm sure they wouldn't have said a thing. I live in a small red-neck town and often train at the lake. (I do marathons) Sometimes bored teenagers yell things like "Hey skinny... go eat some cholesterol" Hmm, brilliant. If they think calling someone skinny is an insult they're nuts. I work hard and I know in 10 years they'll be overweight white trash losers with a beer gut! I could care less what they say. You shouldn't either. Just look at who it's coming from. They're too unambitious and lazy to do anything but shout at people from their driveway.

I am not you and I don't see the situation the same way you would see it. But for me, I find the best way to deal with things is just "smile and wave." Maybe not literally in this case, but when you run by and they yell "Run, Forest, Run," I would either just keep on running or when they said it, turned my head their direction, smiled, and been about my way.

Nothing you can say or do is going to change what he or his friends do. Fighting with them will never make them stop. It will only encourage it more. They do it specifically to get a rise out of you, to make you do what you did. They want to start a confrontation with someone which is exactly why they do it. Granted, they may not stop anytime soon if you run by there everyday, but eventually, it will just stop mattering to them. If you just pretend like you don't hear them, then what good will it do from their perspective if they think you don't hear what they can say? How will they get a rise out of your if you don't hear anything?

No! I do not text while driving. If I really needed to text a message to anyone,I would pull off the road or go into a shopping center than do the text in a safe place. Same thing holds true for talking on your cell phone. Driving is a privilege that you don't want to lose your license for not being allert for what is around you when you drive.

Either you live in a really violent town or you have some crazy red necks where you live. I'd say the red necks.
Personally I wear headphones (like it sounds like you do)
However myself being a small person, I STILL would have yelled a few choice comments, and yet, I still wouldnt have slowed my pace.

I applaud you for standing your ground. I'm quite stubborn myself. :p Personally, I would have said stuff, but that's just me. I think you did the right thing, although I'm not sure you should carry a knife, it could be used against you. :( Best of luck and I hope your road-side pests leave you be.

Stab someone over a bad joke. Probably not the best idea.

Why's everyone have to have attitude??? Concentrate on running and ignore comments.
