the man can beat his wife lightly if she dresses immodestly or does not pray, etc.
I once heard a young Jehovah's Witness say it was proper for him to "make" his wife study the Bible.
When are these wives going to stop letting their husband treat them like one of the children?
And why would the men think their God approves of forced praying and forced Bible study?
Isn't that religious terrorism on a smaller scale? Does that attitude extend beyond the home?

It is insanity. And just not in the name of religion but I have heard of this. Some families following old strict laws-outrageous! And the woman who go along with it are usually raised with either the same beliefs or low self esteem. Then the children brought into these families witness such abuse as normal, hence the tradition continues. Hard to comprehend but it is there. I am glad there are woman's shelters for when some of these women come to their senses-if they ever do. I have seen if first hand with a girlfriend of mine. She is christian-he is Muslim. When he was around us-cool and trying to fit in. Then when they moved away, made her his little Muslim woman. And had to abide by his rule or ELSE. It was pitiful. We tried to save her but he knocked down her self esteem so much, there is nothing I can do now but be there for her when she is ready.

Perhaps a Muslim can best comment on the dictates of Islam or the Koran, but the Christian Scriptures quite plainly disallow compulsory praying and bible study within a marriage. In fact, it seems rather unlikely that even immaturity would blind any true Christian (such as a Jehovah's Witness) to the bible's plain advice for a Christian with an unbelieving spouse.

(1 Corinthians 7:12-16) If any brother has an unbelieving wife, and yet she is agreeable to dwelling with him, let him not leave her; and a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and yet he is agreeable to dwelling with her, let her not leave her husband. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in relation to his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in relation to the brother... God has called you to peace. For, wife, how do you know but that you will save your husband? Or, husband, how do you know but that you will save your wife?

islam doesn't allow beating if the woman is dressed immodestly but if she is an adulterer meaning sleeping around while she is MARRIED, and the beating doesnt mean beating with your fist or weapon but a strand of HAY. i dont think that would hurt.
Of course you have not quoted prophet Muhammed(PBUH) hadith saying the "best of you men are the ones that are best to your wives."
if you choose not to follow any religon please do not spread lies.

Just one more reason to avoid religion.
The sad part is that most of the women who are in those situations agree that they should be treated like that.

People tend to justify outlandish behavior with the excuse of religion and or culture.

"Who are you to question my culture?"

So I guess we have to turn a blind eye to certain atrocities because we can't question their culture.
