Many Christians say that the "messiah" promised in the Old Testement is Jesus who is also GOD. Do Jews believe that the "messiah" promised is going to be GOD in the flesh? Will GOD Himself actually come down to earth and become the "messiah"?

(Honest and/or funny answers only please.)

The character, traits and lineage of Jesus had nothing to do with a Jewish messiah. I personally am not overly concerned with awaiting a messiah, as I think we may be the messiah collectively. It's about Tikkun Olam more than an individual, maybe. ?
But here's one link for some info on the requirements of a human messiah - and note the word human.

There isn't any one answer for *all* Jews. As for myself, I think of Judaism as a way of life, rather than a promise for the afterlife. There are wonderful lessons to be learned from the Torah about living together in this world and respecting all others.

The messiah definitely has nothing whatsoever to do with salvation so does it really matter exactly what "messiah" means as long as one lives a moral life by treating others with loving kindness?

Simply the annointed one who is coming to set the world free and fulfill prophesy (which Jesus did not do and now we are told he will do it i a "second coming" but that is no where in the Bible. The messiah to come will not the this trinitarian God head of the Christian Bible (no offense to Christians) but a flesh and blood man descended from the house of Dovid.

The Moshiach(Messiah) will be a man of this world, an observant Jew with "fear of God" (Isaiah 11:2), nothing supernatural.
