Does an online wedding planner sound appealling to you? Not the cookie cutter software you find everywhere - an actual professional wedding planner. Someone who you could email/call with questions, have as an impartial person to run ideas by, get etiquette advice, use as a shoulder to cry on etc... Unlike a full service, hands-on wedding planner, the cost would be minimal. You could pick and choose the services you want/need - from invitations to a wedding website to RSVP services. Anything that can be handled online and doesn't need to be handled in person. Your own personal wedding professional to give you advice, tips and research information - saving you a ton of time. Does that sound valuable to you? Suggestions?

I am thinking either a subscription service type thing - by the month? by the year? or another segment of time. Or have a menu of services and prices to choose from.
This idea is intended to be the opposite of a "rip-off" and make it so brides could have help with whatever they need at a price they can afford.

Just to let you know - I have over 10 years experience as a wedding planner/coordinator. It crossed my mind that I could help a lot more people thanks to the internet. And it would also eliminate me needing to be on site with 16 hour days the day of the wedding. I LOVE doing it, but it is exhausting. Thanks to all for your input.

This would be for people who would don't feel they need an "in person" planner but would enjoy some of the benefits at a much lower cost. I enjoy getting to know my clients tremendously - one of my favorite parts of my career - but, as you know, the internet has made so many new services available to a much wider audience. This is just an idea I am tossing around.

It sounds like something someone would either love or hate. There are a lot of websites out there already that help with planning, but I personally like the idea of an actual planner assisting me. I decided not to go with a planner, mainly for the costs, and some friends had some horror stories about theirs, so I decided to buck it up, and my fiance and I did everything, but there are times when I wish I'd had some professional advice along the way. I think that if you are well experienced, and charge reasonably, you should be able to make some money. It's definitely an idea I would've considered. Good luck!!

I wouldn't use a planner at all, I'm sorry, I am not knocking the service as I am sure there are many brides out there that have used a planner and loved it, but for me personally we wanted to plan our day ourselves and not be pressured into having or using services that we did not want to use. Also the fact that our wedding budget was so small (as we are paying ourselves) then it would not have been affordable to use a planner. One of the best thing about planning our wedding was the fun we had researching things and finding things for ourselves rather than having a list of suppliers given to us, it was all part of the fun of planning.

I don't want to be a downer, but they can ask all those questions right here on Yahoo, on the knot's forums and a whole host of other wedding forums. There really isn't a point to an online planner. Of course, I could be totally wrong, because I don't see the point of an in-person wedding planner, either.

Honestly, if I were to hire a wedding planner, I would want someone that could run around and do things for me, kind of like an assistant, because I wouldn't have time to do it myself or wouldn't want to bother. That being said, I know exactly what I want for my wedding. Perhaps someone that has no clue what they want or where to look would benefit from such a service.

Ummmm, how, when, where can I find out about doing this!?!?
I am DIY bride, and love taking care of things, I have my church and hall etc.. but it would be so great to have this kind of help without worrying about my controlling family trying to take over and telling me what to do. Can you set up a budget? Are you willing to make phone calls? What about reminders to do things on my to-do list?
What a great idea! I get to talk to a person instead of reading a million websites with all the same boring information?! Sign me up!

No, wouldn't be useful at all. The net provides a lot of information, but otherwise we get information from books, family, friends, etc. It's too important an event to leave in the hands of a stranger, and should be done in person.

Why not ask your Mother and the grooms mother to help you out in this... Also include your grandmother, if living, and so on......the more the better....... have a small get-together, tea, and cake, and bounce ideas off each other....... write down all the best ones ...this would make your wedding more special since the new and old family would feel like a part of it.. and there are so many websites that can help you for free....... no fees charged....... thats even better.

How would you charge for something like that? Sounds like it could be a rip off for the bride or a total pain for the wedding planner!
