Only 5, huh? OK...here goes:

I am Catholic -- and loving it!

1. Catholicism goes all the way back to Jesus and the Apostles

2. The greatest miracle in the world today happens in every Catholic church every single day....when the bread and wine offered at Mass truly become the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ....such an incredible miracle of love!!!!

3. It contains everything necessary for salvation

4. Talk about support -- over 1.2 billion members!!!!!

5. Our priests are celibate -- no money from collections going toward pastor's mortgages, cars, kids, braces, college, etc. One of our local fundy "mom & pop" churches employees SIX memebers of the SAME (pastor's) family! That double-dipping....trippled!!!!!!!!

6. Incredible unity!!!!! When I am at Mass at 9:45 on Sunday as is my custom, I am in awe that ALL Roman Catholics around the entire world are hearing the exact same readings from the OT, NT, Psalm Response and Gospel proclamation....no matter which language it may be in

7. Only the Catholic Church could produce huge spiritual giants like Mother Teresa of Calcutta and the late Pope John Paul II ....... 7 MILLION in Rome for a final farewell????? More than 5 million of them youth!

8. Catholic School education and the nuns, priests and brothers who staffed and ran them have done more to elevate millions out of the lower class and into the middle class because of their dedication. I went to Catholic school grades 1-5...then public schools for the rest. I learned far more in those first 5 years than in all the rest.

9. No community of faith does more to feed the hungry, educate all classes, build hospitals, orphages, nursing homes, social service agencies, etc. than the Catholic Church.

10. If you abhor abortion and you cheered when Bush signed the ban on partial birth abortion in 2003 (http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/11/20031105-1.html) -- remember that it could not and did not become the law of the land until just very recently when approved by the Supreme Court. There are now FIVE Supreme Court justices on the bench who are Catholic: Antonin Scalia, Anthony M. Kennedy, Clarence Thomas, Samuel A. Alito Jr. and the new chief justice, John G. Roberts Jr. It is the Catholic vote on the bench that tipped the decision that way. Bushie can sign whatever the heck he wants....but if the Supreme Court declares that any new law he signs is unconstitutional, then he is plum out of luck!

11. When the day comes and the Orthodox churches reunite with Rome, it will bump up the membership of the church to well over another 100 million! The Russian Orthodox Church alone claims more than 82 million members alone!!!!!

12. Because there are Catholics in every single country in the world with 29 time zones (if I counted correctly…http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=8&day=7&year=2007&hour=22&min=0&sec=0&p1=911&sort=2) AND Mass being offered every day, then…somewhere in the world there is ALWAYS a Mass being said. Every hour of every day, a mass is being offered. NO other church can claim that!

Yep....that's far more than 5....140% more.

I'm Seventh-day Adventist Christian. I love my religion because it is based on the literal teachings of the Bible. If you'd like to read more about it, I've included a link in the resources section.

1. Jesus talks to us and tells us hidden things we could never have known.

2. God loves us so unconditionally that even when we are about to rebel, He knows we are about to rebel and prepares the finest robe for us and the ring for our finger for when we come back from our rebellion.

3. Christ can heal us from diseases and all sorts of oppression - His name is more powerful than all names under Heaven.

4. We will be raised when Jesus comes back, so our bodies never have to see decay.

5. The love God has for us as individuals naturally extends to those around us, and we get to participate in the heart God has for other people -- even people we don't know!

Praise God
