I think that in most cases these people are ignorant and close minded, but they just might possibly care for you. I have had people try to shove their beliefs down my throat before and when it comes to religion I have found that in several cases it was because the people cared for me. These people absolutely believe that their religion is true and that if you don't believe in it that you will go to hell or where ever. If the person cares about you it will pain them to see you go to hell. This going to whereever may seem silly to the person its being told to, but to the other person it is dead serious. I hate having people bugging me about my beliefs, but I don't lash out at them because I simply try to understand where they're coming from and why they are doing this.

That goes both ways... For those who believe, I tire of non-believers calling my beliefs fairytales, imaginary, etc etc. This is as much the same as trying to "push" their non-beliefs on us.
But what frustrates me even more is when I am responding to questions, and explaining the Christian doctrines, perspectives, and beliefs, I am suddenly accused of trying to CONVERT someone. I am NOT... I am trying to explain things, that's all.
It's like if I was trying to explain why the sky is blue by saying, "The sky is blue because of light refraction," and someone saying, "I don't give a d&&m why the sky is blue, it's all make believe anyway!" I never said, "You must believe the sky is blue or you'll go to hell," but I get insulting responses instead... "Well you're ugly anyway" ... or "You're just a jerk." etc.
Okay... I'll get off my little soapbox now and return to my knitting. Thanks for listening.

Its hard for some people to understand that someone else is different. They feel so strong in their beliefs that they think if they could just get you to "understand" then you would believe to. Its very annoying but try to be patient with people like that, and stick to the golden rule. Treat people as you would like to be treated. If they antagonize you or mis treat you because of your beliefs simple ask them to leave, or stop talking to you. You are empowered to let people into your life or not.

I think that they need to open their eyes and look at the world around them. Not everyone is the same and do/will not hold the same beliefs as you, some hold no beliefs at all. People like need to talk with Athiests, as a matter of fact, when these kind of people approach me I just tell them what I think

You must be young and not sure of your place and space in life because as you mature, other people's attitudes about who you are changes. Name calling is popular in high school but it doesn't figure into adult life the same way. People may categorize you but they don't speak about it, they just choose other friends. Once you have defined who you are and where you want to be in life and your career and lifestyle, you have the option to make choices as to who you want to associate with and how you want to live without the pettiness of high school and sometimes even college. You will figure it out and be less likely to want to ask why some people choose different styles. Life choices allow all of us to make those decisions and then have to live them, one way or another.

I can't agree with you more. I can never understand why people would want to try and make you think the way they do? What is that accomplishing? I mean, c'mon! I don't respect those people. But I especially don't like it if you know they are thinking you are terrible but they just say,"Ooooooh." and then go talk about you to other people.

I don't have time for people like that in my life.
It's sad because their life is so shallow and their only focus is trying to convince you that what you believe is wrong.
This is why I try to be open minded about everything. Even if I disagree with you, I won't push my view on you.

There a waist of my time.....people who refuse to accept the fact that everyone thinks differently really don't know how wonderful it is to know people of all different walks of life. In short they are really missing out.

They're Unifiers, like Bush. Absolutists do fill a place in my heart. I alternately laugh at them and flip them the bird.
