I'm getting married this saturday to my hunny of 7 years. He is LDS but not practicing and my family isn't at all. We are getting married by the bishop and he said we can't do a ring ceremony and my family was really hurt. We worked it out to were before the ceremony we can do a ring ceremony but we can't say anything like with this ring I thee wed. WHICH IS DUMB! I hate the whole idea but I really want to have the rings exchanged! What should I say i'm thinking about this short poem but want to add more:

Will Love You Forever
by Amanda Nicole Martinez

I love you so deeply,
I love you so much,
I love the sound of your voice
And the way that we touch.
I love your warm smile
And your kind, thoughtful way,
The joy that you bring
To my life every day.
I love you today
As I have from the start,
And I'll love you forever
With all of my heart.

I don't know how to word it cause the ceremony wouldn't have even start. Ahhh so STRESSED! Damn the LDS church and their stupid rules.

The poem sounds good, but not for the exchange of rings. I suggest something like, "As I put this ring on your finger, we'll be together forever."

Good luck!!!

Find another bishop or better yet, a non-denominational pastor. The bishop was off his mark by stating he couldn't do a ring ceremony, and probably too narrow minded to think anything but a temple ceremony is valid.

He's wasting your time, energy and enthusiasm. Do not let him ruin your wedding.

I love the poem - it is perfect. I got married a few weeks ago, and during the ring exchange, my groom kissed my hand after placing the ring on my finger. It was very touching.

I'm confused as to why you can't have the ring ceremony.

Can you say take this ring as a symbol of my love and fidelity?

The above poem seems so long, maybe recite just a fe wlines from it?

Good luck!

I really like your poem...

I tried to come up with one more verse/paragraph to be like the moment of exchange... this is really rough...but maybe an idea you like?

This ring is symbol
for you and for me
our love is a circle
everlasting and ....

?? Don't know...kinda stuck... you get the idea?

Why are you getting married in the LDS church if you aren't a member and your fiance doesn't practice? That doesn't make any sense. Your whole question doesn't make sense, you can't get married in an LDS temple if you aren't a member.
