It depends on what kind of track it is. Try to find if there is a 100 or 200 meters start line that is labeled. If the 200m mark is just before the curve opposite of the finish line it is a 400m track(4 laps=1 mile). If it has 6-8 lanes that are numbered and isnt indoor or have banking (where the curves are raised) it is most likely a 400 meter track. If it is an indoor track with lanes (numbered) it's probably a 200 meter track (8 laps=1 mile). If you really cant tell then ask someone who works at one of the athletic facilities at the school.

yea! 4 laps around a college track is a mile. A regular college/high school track should be a quarter mile or 400 m

what about it? yes 4 laps is a mile. on all tracks high school or college they are both 1/4 mile around.

At Tufts and harvard university the offical mile is 4 laps around. i lap =1/4 a mile
