The steps you will need to take after purchasing a vehicle from a private party will depend on the state you are located in, as each state motor vehicle office has different title/registration processes and requirements. My best advice to you would be to visit the following pages:

http://www.dmv.org/title-transfers.php

http://www.dmv.org/car-registration.php

In order to get state specific information, you will need to select the state that applies to you. These pages will provide general information on how to transfer a title and register a vehicle for the first time.

Aside from these DMV processes, I recommend that you order a vehicle history report (http://www.dmv.org/vehicle-history.php) and have the vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer or mechanic. I know from personal experience that vehicle history reports are key! If you do not take the time to order one of these reports, you could potentially make a bad (and costly) financial decision. I hope this information was helpful.

Have a wonderful day!

You Need To Head Over To The DMV [ The Earlier The Better, Lines Are Insane ] And Then They Will Help You Transfer The Tittle, Insurance, Tags, Etc, Etc.

I Suggest You Make An Appointment With The DMV The Day Before Because Where I Live, People Start Waiting Outside TWO HOURS Before It Even Opens.

Well I'm assuming that you have had the car fax done and, an able mechanic inspect it so, Insurance,Tags, tax and, title work at the DMV or Department Of Motor Vehicles would be your next move.
