For A First Car I Would Go With A Honda Accord Coupe. They Are Very Safe & Perform Very Well. I Have Had 2 Mustangs & None Of Them Compared In Handling. My V6 Accord Picks Up Speed Way Faster Than My 05 Mustang GT! They Are Also Much More Manueverable Than Any Other Car I Have Driven. And There Isnt Alot Of Blindspots Like You Will Find In A Mitushibishi Eclipse. It Also Has Alot Of Space, A Great Factory Stereo & Comfortable Seating. I Would Deffinately Get Another One If I Wasnt So0o Into Trucks. This Is A Very Gas Efficient, Sporty Looking Car Great For A First Time Driver!

Honda Civic ! Get A Sedan For Lower Insurance Rates. All Honda Engines Are Very Reliable. The Car Will Last You Over Two Hundred Thousand Miles. The Crash Ratings Are WAY BETTER Than The Scion Tc. The Civic Almost Makes A Great First Driver Because It Is A Very Simple Car To Use.

I would suggest a Honda. The resale value is very good and they are very reliable. I bought a Nissan Altima 2.5 S I would not suggest this car to my worst enemy. : ) From the day I brought it home the thing won't start! it takes me about five tries and Nissan has done nothing for me..
Honda also have a few different models to choose from as well. With diff rent price ranges. I always suggest to go with a Certified Used if you go that direction. And think about Gap Insurance too it is very cheap and can pay for it self fast .
Most of your American cars have problems they may throw great deals at you but ultimately you make the payment do you want the car in the shop being repaired or enjoy driving it? Auto Dealers like to play games if you suspect something or think you smell a RAT get out of there FAST!!. It is all about smoke and mirrors. Me personally If I want to see smoke and mirrors I will go to Vegas. I am sure you work very hard for the money you make to be swindled by a crook.

Get a 2005-08 Volkswagen Jetta. They are some of the safest cars around with 5 stars for crash safety and 29 MPG.
It is a very nice car. Starting at $16,000. A top pick for teens.

I take it your young, so I would get a Honda Civic EX, Nissan Versa sedan, or a Chevrolet Cobalt. All get really good gas mileage and all are small and great for first time users. I have a Dodge Neon and it runs great and is reliable. All will cost between 15,000-23,000.

Considering gas prices..... I would recomend that you get a Prius, or if you want something a little more sporty- than something like a honda accord. Toyotas are also good cars!
