is this possible? I have 4 tvs at home that are not HD and I don't want to buy a new TV with HD. Is there a way or something i can buy to make my tvs HD compatible?

It is impossible to convert any type of regular non-HD TV's to HD. The inescapable reason is that the resolution, of which is the primary difference between HD and non-HD, is something that is physically designed into TV's when they are manufactured.

However, there should be no real "need" to have HDTV's unless you actually desire them to be. In other words, there is nothing currently forcing people to switch over to an HDTV, so if you don't want to buy new TV's, you can easily stay with the 4 you have now. It will be many many years from now before your current TV's become completely obsolete and unuseable.

Hope that helps!

No, because if your television is SD (standard definition) it doesn't withhold the capacity for HD resolutions like 720p 1080p or 1080i. The "P" standing for progressive scan, and the "I" for interlacent (There really isn't a significant difference).

Secondly, to optimize picture resolution a HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) cable is used, which is only inclusive to a HD television.

Thirdly, for gaming and video peripherals a video component cable is used (which has the green, blue, and red input and output) for better picture quality as opposed to an av cable (red, white, and red input and output) which although will still be compatible with an HD television, does not give as good picture quality as the video component cable or HDMI.

With regard to finding a way to upconvert your standard television sets, I don't think there are any ways to make a SD television HD, because it simply doesn't have the capacity to run HDTV resolutions.

I hope this has cleared up any confusions.

You can buy a converter that will convert the analog signal into digital. I'm not sure if you'll get the true hd effect but it beats having to buy an hdtv.
