Boot camp seems tough, but it is really quite easy. Just do what your told and keep your mouth shut. No problem. Even PT is not that bad, you get used to it.

If people think boot camp is bad, deployments and operations will be a real *****!

I went through the USAF basic training 2 years ago and at the time it was hard but after I looked back, it was easy. Physically, it wasn;t too hard because you are just sooo numb you just keep running and pushing but emotionally, it can get to some people. I was the weakest person in my flight and I came out top 30/700 people. I got honor graduate. I'd have to say it was pretty damn easy. SO I'd give it an 8.

Your question is too simple, more details are needed for an informative analysis.

Also, a comparison is required to use the scale… 1-10 compared to what?

Your question is really too basic friend. Try reframing it with more comparative aspects.

My write up anyways ;o)
I attended US Navy boot camp in 1990 in Orlando, Fl. Compared to army or marines boot camp? I would give navy boot camp a 3. It wasn’t that tough. I was selected for the flag team so, because of our rather difficult training requirements for that flag team (and our very strict, hard-a**ed flag team company commander) we had to pass our PT test 5 weeks earlier than the rest of the company so, those of us on the flag team would consider our boot camp experience to be more difficult than the regular navy recruits. However, I would consider army or marine boot camp more difficult regardless of my situation, which I didn’t mind by the way.

Airforce boot camp will rank WAY below army & marines (and the navy) by the way ;o)

US Army, 1996. I give it a 5. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. And it never fails, every group of vets swears it was 10 times harder when they went through, and now it's gone soft. It's a hindsight bias, you want everyone to respect your accomplishment, partly by belittling what the young guys are doing. This has went on for thousands of years. I garantee some neathertal drill sergeant was complaining about how these dang cro-magnon recruits have it easy, and how he didn't have cushy "fire" and "arrows" like they do now.

USA! USA!

I would rate it about 7 and a half British. I'd prefer the older generations way where they were able to use physical contact. however today they mentally screw with your head and take you to pieces but then rebuild you the way a soldier is "supposed" to be in the army, navy or air force.

1 being easy and 10 being impossible

USAF Air Force. I rate it a 6. I did get a lot of bruises on the obstacle course and we turned that into a competition. But I came out of basic with beautiful long nails and in good shape, so I can't complain.

7. I was in shape. Spent 6 months getting in better shape before going. Was never sore, never had a chance to snooz, ate more than I should have and put on 7 lbs. I also had a High School buddy in my platoon, we motivated each other.

I would be removed from base in an ambulance now!

UK RM YO, not afraid to say I found it tough, it didn't come natural to me and had to work really hard to get the Green Beret. Left shortly after as wasn't ready to command (I was young)
It shouldn't be any other way and if you want it enough anything is achievable. I'll put it on an 8 for me personally, but it varies.

well i went to basic in 2006 . i joined the army ..and basic was well if you want my true opinion ...sad very sad now adays they cant put their hands on you they have to give you breathing room ( personal space ) i didn't care for It i think the army is lacking in discipline when i was going through basic we had a kid that didn't do anything right screwed up all the time was out only for himself and if we put our hands on him oh my god ... The New ARMY .... sometimes i wonder if i made the right choice... but on a lighter side when you get to your first duty its alot better...now to rate my basic... 1

5. 10% physical 90% mental. They actually want to get you used to being under stress. To see if you can handle it and how you handle it. USAF.
