What I learned and passed on to pregnant women:
Everyone will tell you their labor horror stories - don't listen. Many women have an easy time. It's not a day at the beach but it's not horrible.

Best advice I got after my 1st daughter came home:
if she's pink, she's breathing.

Don't try to be "wonder woman". You can only do so much and your first priority after childbirth is to spend time with your child and readjust after being pregnant for 9 months. Rest when you can and spend your quality time with your child. If you are able to and choose to do so, nurse your baby; it will form a very special bond between the two of you and you will give her the best nourishment available. Don't invite a ton of people in to see the baby when you first come home; rest and get acquainted and after a few weeks, invite those who you would like to come to visit and meet your new child. Enjoy every second with your newborn because the time passes so quickly!! Congratulations and happy labor day to you!! (Be sure to go to childbirth classes so you can be prepared; it really helps to have knowlege and it keeps you more calm when you know what to expect!) Your life only gets better when you have that new little angel to love!!

Being a mother will be by far the hardest thing you will ever have to do in your life, and also the most important. Remember that nobody is perfect and you will make mistakes and you will get frusterated, but that does not make you a bad mother. Every new mom experiences frusteration and anxiety when it comes to there kids, you just have to know when to recognize it, how to cope with it, and most importantly realize that you are not alone in the way you feel and that every mother on earth has felt the same way at one point in there life or another.

Sleep when the baby is sleeping. The house work will take care of itself. That is why your Mother and mother in law come to visit right after the baby comes

That you cannot spoil a baby. You just have to know when they are old enough to let them lay in bed and cry for a bit.
But really, I had worried while pregnant and the funny thing is that everything just came natural after she was born. It was like I was a pro. :)

I learned this the hard way:Don't worry about the laundry or dishes. You need to sleep when baby sleeps. I was about half nuts about 2 weeks after my son came home from the hospital because I thought I had to do it all. There is no shame in asking for help.

Enjoy your child, they grow up so fast.

My "baby" is leaving for college at the end of this month, and the last 18 years have flown by!

Choosing to raise your own child full time is the best choice you can ever make. It is a sacrifice but so totally worth it.
