Drivers and team members are selected randomly and at any track.
They check in and if they are picked they are escorted by an official to the infield care center for the test.
Also if NASCAR receives info that somebody may have used something or if suspicious activities were noted ,personnel could be requested to have a test.
And if a driver has been on probation for abuse he could be checked nytime to see if they are adhearing to NASCAR policy.

It's random. But, I think it should be more like how they test the transportation industry. At random but also any time they are involved in an accident. And a breathalizer test before every race! Boy everybody out there would sure think twice before doing anything if they knew that if they were involved in a crash they would be tested. Cause everyone of those drivers knows it can happen to anyone of them at anytime!

gregs111 has the correct answer..these were the words of Nascar spokesperson . I can't remember who, but I remember seeing the interview.
However, Kevin Harvick has taken a stand different from Nascars ..saying all drivers should be tested regularly and there would be no question.

Not often enough. Random testing when the suspicious or situation warrants it. They should have routine random testing. They want to improve the safety of racing, I don't see a better place to start than with the sobriety of the drivers!

They only test when there is suspicion. It's a stupid policy because Fike was on crack and had not aroused suspicion.
Drug use is important because lives are on the line, not just records and games. They need frequent random testing.

Does it really matter if any of them are on drugs? I mean it's not like being roided up with give a driver an advantage. It's about the one sport it has 0 impact on.
