There will never be an end to immigration into Britain, but it certainly MUST slow down.We are a small island. Its common sense that immigration levels as they stand at the moment are unsustainable. In Britain, levels of net inward migration are already causing rapid environmental deterioration.Millions more houses here, new airport there… in a finite space population pressures grow relentlessly. The amount of land available to provide for each citizen’s needs and to absorb the impact of each citizen’s consumption has shrunk to nearly a tenth of what it was just 250 years ago, when the population numbered little more than five million.
Overpopulation is already a major contributing cause of urban sprawl, transport gridlock, collapsing infrastructure, disappearing countryside and mounting waste – and those are only the visible problems. Severe fossil fuel shortages are among the challenges that lie ahead, and these will probably occur before 2050, within the lifespan of many people now aged under 35.
Who needs countryside, animals, flowers, organic food, fresh water, space or silence? 200 million more people for Europe? 20 million more for the UK? Don’t worry about meeting crucial greenhouse gas emissions targets or setting aside the thousands of hectares needed for renewable energy production – with a bit of luck these things will sort themselves out. They won’t. The UK has been exceptionally liberal in accepting refugees in recent decades, yet if a quota system for refugee acceptances is proposed by the EU it may base quotas on a percentage of the existing populations of EU countries. The population of the UK, already swelled by large immigration flows, would as a result be asked to receive larger numbers than less generous EU nations...

I beleive the concern here is that the Uk is not big enough to allow anymore Immigrants in.Their has to be changes soon it has run out of control.Agreed they do menial jobs that brits wouldnt do but remember if their wasnt so many of them those jobs wouldnt be needed.Their wouldnt be the numbers of people to serve. It is a fact that in poorer countries houses and cars are shooting up in price beyond proportion.Food is beyond the reach of many people on a proper basis. So they come here with demands for money and health care etc and usually get it at the expense of us Tax payers. The government has to see British people will stand no more and take positive action now before the bubble bursts. As you were?

Immigration is good for the economy but does need to be controlled. Immigration has been a part of Britain for hundreds of years just as Britons have emmigrated to many parts of the world.

My Grandfather lived about 30 minutes outside Liverpool, I remember there were 2 types of people he despised. 1 the Indians or at least that's what he called them, and would have nothing to do with them. And other was the french, he couldn't stand the french and considered them idiots and lazy. I can only state his position, I live in America

I don't know what priviledged middle class utopia YOU live in where British people can afford to turn their noses up at jobs like Care Assistant but here in the South Wales Valleys, Care Assitant jobs are among the most common jobs to find a young British (Welsh) woman doing!
We don't have the choice to "turn our noses up" thanks, there aren't enough highly paid jobs to go round and its wiping elderly people's bums or the dole. And given that the dole is £57.00 per week and 40 hours at min. wage is £200 odd and some of us have mortgages to pay which won't be covered by housing benefit, then thats why many of us pick up the toilet paper and roll up our sleeves. It makes me mad to be told that "British people" won't do these jobs when so many of those I know do!!! And also to see Poles taking these jobs. Who gives a toss about whether they can afford cars or not? We work our guts out too and can't buy new cars or luxuries.
Welcome to the world, we don't owe Poland anything.
Oh and as for them earning £8000 pa, boo bloody hoo, my partner slogged his guts out in a pub for the grand sum of £9,600 last year and w e have a mortgage to pay and a baby to care for and no we can't afford a car eiother. Why do Poles deserve better treatment than us?
