As far as the antenna is concerned, there is no difference between digital and standard broadcast. If your rabbit ears give good reception on standard (analog) broadcast, they will work with the digital set-top box. Many digital stations are on UHF, so your antenna has to be able to receive those as well.

However, if your reception is marginal (snowy) on the analog broadcasts, you may not receive any picture at all on the digital channels, and you will need a better antenna.

Sure if you hook it up with a splitter..... so you can switch between modes. If standard is your only input.... usually a $2 thing will do the trick.
