Do you still feel that no Muslim leaders speak out, even after all of the questions I've posted proving that we have and nobody is listening?

"As Muslims, we completely condemn these attacks and offer our condolences to the American people.

In this article, we will explain that Islam is by no means the source of this violence and that violence has no place in Islam.

Even if the terrorists have Muslim identities, the terror they perpetrated cannot be labeled "Islamic terror", just as it would not be called "Jewish terror" if the perpetrators were Jews or "Christian terror" if they were Christians.

That is because, as we will examine, murdering innocent people in the name of religion is unacceptable. We need to keep in mind that, among those who were killed in Washington or New York, there were people who loved Jesus (Christians), Prophet Moses (Jews) and Muslims.

According to Islam, murdering innocent people is a great sin that, unless forgiven by God, brings torment in Hell."

I honestly think the reason no one is hearing Muslim leaders cry out against terrorist attacks is because only Muslim media covers it. You can find it on Al Jazeera, but not on Fox, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, or Sky news. Why? Are they afraid that a Muslim condemning terror and crying for peace wouldn't draw enough ratings. There is freedom of press in America, and the press freely chooses to show what ever reality gets ratings and brings in advertising dollars. What do they care about Muslims?

Nobody argues that no Muslim leader have never say anything against terrorism.

However, here is the rub.

- What terrorism do they call consider terrorism? Giving blanket statements is not enough when there a documented cases where an attack on the WTC is called terrorism while a suicide bombing in Israel is not.

- By refusing to call them Islamic terrorists they are trying to apply a cognitive disonace about the issue. Because the fact remains that a) They are Muslim and b) they cite Islam as justification for their actions. (That would be equivalent to writing an article about Baruch Goldstein and not mentioning that he was a Jewish settler from the Hebron area.)

- if they do condemn terrorism, do they therefore support measures to counter such terrorism? And that includes the US using it military might. And that includes the possibility that some of the members in their community may come under scrutiny.

- If they do condemn terrorism, then are there efforts underway to counter the arguments used by the terrorists who use Islam to justify their actions?

Sister, I don't feel we need to prove anything to anyone. What we are doing is apparent, they know Islam and Muslims condemn terrorism... but their choice would rather be to cover their ears and eyes on any positive notational responce from a Muslim. Those who are not ignorant and open minded, and capable of forming their own opinion, instead of walking in herds... will know the truth, that Muslims are peace loving folk, and we shouldn't be sharing the burden of some hypocritical terrorist. Why should 1.6 million Muslims get the blame? Think about it, they ask US what we are doing.. what are they doing? Is their way of speaking out against terrorism, harassing Muslims in any form they can? Why aren't they speaking out the terrorism that's been part of the west for centuries...
Not all non-Muslims are like this... I am saying this to who ever is stubborn and wants to overlook the good, and emphasise what they think we do.
Also sister, This is our time for struggle, a time where Allah is testing us. We must keep in mind Ummah's before us have been given worst of tests. As long as we know we are doing our job as Muslims to show people what Islam really is... that's all that matters.

I understand there is a difference between the terrorists and the average Muslim. However, as time goes on I'm finding it increasingly difficult to not believe that Islam doesn't advocate/support violence - at least indirectly. It's one thing to talk about Muslims in America and other western nations speaking out about the violence. But there is almost nothing coming from Muslims in predominately Muslim countries. What we see is this constant back and forth violence. We see Muslim states either sponsoring or supporting terrorism. But we hardly see any major Muslim states condemning the violence or aligning themselves with the US.

If Muslims really want the world to believe Islam is not a violent religion, they really need to take a more visible and firm hand in not only condemning the violence, but actively working to stop it.

It's very hard to take these "protestations" seriously, when Muslim leaders regularly call for people to be killed, and give their blessings to those who commit these murders.

The Western perception is that Islam is a religion of violence - chop off the hand, cut off the head, in Africa people are still stoned. Add that to calls for vengeance, Imams preaching revolution and violence - and the continuing violence in so many countries that profess to follow the teaching of the Prophet (Blessed Be His Name) and the so-called condemnations don't carry a lot of weight.

Well said. Terror is terror. There are no muslim terrorist just as there are no jewish terrorist. There are terrorists who happen to be muslims and jews and tamil tigers and irish. You name it. I think muslim terrorism has been invented by the west to vilify ALL muslims. This is regrettable. There are good muslims and bad muslims. There are good christians and bad christians. The question is how do we turn the bad eggs into good ones?

Unfortunately, some Muslims seem to think an AK-47, an RPG and a bomb are the answer. Any Muslim is safe without these. My neighbours and friends are Muslims, it is the crazy Taliban ones that get all the media, however; not the real ones.

i condemn all forms of terrorism. to the poster above me that said Islam is responsible for killing Americans, your American bombs kill Iraki Christians on a daily basis, your American bombs smash Iraki Churches that are over a thousand years old. Based on the figure of 600 000 killed in Irak by the imperialist invaders, and Iraki Christians making up 10% of the general population, American terrorists have killed 60 000 Christians in Irak.

who stands up for the Christians of Irak, killed by American bombs.

the Muslim religion is still guilty of killing innocent Americans. and we will label as we wish, whether you like it or not. now is not the time for being politically correct! but i hope America is willing to accept individual apologies such as yours. tolerance on a certain degree should be accepted. i love my country but you can't blame us for retaliating against the Middle East. I'm sorry to say but the Muslim countries would have do the same...debate me if you will...I'm still open for more detail and I'm ready to listen to your point of view.
