blue ray, HD or just regular dvd?

I can't figure out what is better. I really want the BBC series "Planet Earth" or "Deep blue" and i heard the blue ray is awesome BUT it is missing some footage. so is HD. but dvd isnt that good of a quailty. can you really tell the difference? i have a PS3 so i figure i have a blue ray disc player...why not use it. but is it that much better than a regualar dvd that costs quite a bit less? just curiouse. I do want the best quality...i just want to know if it is noticeable.

u will see a difference - given that u are viewing it on a full 1080p set.

u already have a player - use it.

why buy another player?
