I feel like I need to. But I just cant seem to break the habbit.

It's like I can't help it.

I'm thinking of buying a male chastity belt device over the internet. It allows the wearer to go to the bathroom and can be cleaned while worn.

I am thinking of giving the only key to a close friend at church.

What do you think?

I will answer your question, which was "Anyone successfully stopped masturbating for religious reasons?"

Yes, I have.

If you want to know why and how, email me. I prefer not to air that kind of laundry in this washateria. But you are trying to do something quite pleasing to God, despite some of the advice you have received here. God bless you in your efforts, one way or the other.

I don't know why you would want to stop "for religious reasons". As far as I know the only religion that says you can not masturbate is the catholics, and they let you go to confession and wipe the sin away so you can go do it again. Other religions pretty much view it as a normal activity. There is nothing wrong with it, and if someone has been preaching to you that you should stop I think you should question the teaching.. Do not let your religion fill you with guilt and shame. I would guess if you gave the key to someone at the church they would laugh them self sick because you were denying yourself this simple pleasure. Also please know your body is going to expel sperm even if you do not, so it seems to me this is a good indication your body is expecting you to either masturbate or have sexual relations of some kind, and that does not add up making masturbation wrong.

Yes. For a long time. And since there was no other sex in my life for a lot of years either... I won't get into what happened when I left the church.
I think your best bet is to stay healthy and consider leaving the religion you're in. A male chastity belt sounds very unhealthy.
On a side note, you might want to find out how monks and other celibate people handle this. I've known a few folks in the religious life who had to conquer this because of their situation, so it can be done.
I just don't think it's healthy... everything needs balance.

Man wasn't meant to be alone. That's why masturbation is a sin. The purpose of sex is to unite a married couple in love, and to make the act of creating families a joyful, unifying experience.

Sex creates endorphins... which is why it feels good. You're getting addicted to the endorphin rush. Try getting more exercise and sunlight (which also produce endorphins)... or get married and let her do it for you.

Believe me, sex is a lot more enjoyable when you are not alone!

As a Catholic, I realized something interesting on that.

The Magisterium of the Church has never condemned that as it has other sexual sins.

It has been condemned by theologians and others in the Church, but by no pope in official teaching capacity.

So it is possible that the idea of it being a disorder and a sin is a faulty belief.

The example that is used (and the only one it seems) is Onan - but if you look at what Onan did, that was not precisely it - he was supposed to put his seed in his dead brother's wife, but spilt it on the ground instead - he *had* a woman there, but didn't go for it as he should have.

Like another poster wrote, many have stopped for religious reasons. Yes, it's possible to break the habit, no matter how ingrained it is.

In fact, doing something, or not doing something, for religious reasons, is the BEST reason you can have!

You can send me an email if you want to talk more. I do not want to post anything too personal or revealing here.

God bless you.

It's a matter of Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

Try to elevate your need level, and strive for self-actualization rather than gratification, and the urge to wankk will slowly leave you. The less often you do it, the more you will appreciate actual sex with someone you love.

Um...if you want a Theist answer...the answer would be that you should stop...BUT I would think that if God made us...why did he make masturbation and sex feel so good? (My dad told me this and he's a big time Christian....) I mean...if he didn't want us to have that stuff, then why make it feel as good as it does? I say go for it like you haven't had it for a year! XD Just remember, use lotion and clean up after yourself...lol.

If you want to stop it, it will be only the first couple of weeks that you will feel strong urge. After that it becomes easy to suppress. This is the opinion of some of my friends who stopped it for religious reasons.
Good luck!

You have got to be kidding!!

Masturbation is normal and healthy. Aren't you intelligent enough to use the common sense that hopefully your God gave you?

The bible says nothing about masturbation. Not that the bible is anything worth worrying about anyway. What you hear is idiots trying to force their own prudish fears on you.
