just wear some canvas or leather work gloves and pick it up when you see it. they have terrible eyesite. put it in a box and relocate it or take it to animal control.

Since it doesn't take much to kill a "possum on the half shell," you should pick the right firearm for the circumstances rather than for the game. When armadillos first made their appearance east of the Mississippi I was a kid and had a great time hunting them with a spear. Good luck, because it's a certainty you don't have just one armadillo to worry about.

Sounds like rat problems we have here in NY. First off, I'd go along with the other guy's suggestion to check with your environmental laws on discharging a firearm near other homes or a street. Most municipalities in NY state that you must be outside of 400 feet of another home in order to have the right to discharge a firearm on your property.

With that said, my strongest recommendation would be to get a shotgun. You have little to no worry about a stray bullet hurting someone if you use 6 shot or higher and you'll kill it easier than a 22, which can wound or cause injuries which take a while for the animal to die if it gets away.

My recommendation would be for any cheap shotgun and the Mossberg combo setup would give you a longer barrel for bird shot as well as a shorter barrel for home defense. They're under $300 as well.

Go to a pawn shop and find a cheap .22 rifle or pistol. It dont matter which one if thats all you are using it for. A .22 is not loud anyway so noise wont be aproblem if you live far enough away from people. But it is best to see if you live within city limits. If you do, call the local city police dept. and find out if you can discharge the weapon for that purpose. I you live out in the county, call the county sheriff dept. and ask them if it is ok. Usually if you live out in the county, it will be fine. AND NO!!!!!! DO NOT PICK IT UP!!!!! A pawn shop will probably have a cheap .22 for less then $100.

Get a .22 bolt action and a couple of boxes of CCI CB caps. The CB's are quiet, but have the oomph to kill an armadillo at 25 yards and under.

Don't get a semi-automatic .22 because the CB caps won't cycle the action.

Silence is necessary if you live inside the city limits if you want to avoid arrest.

I dont think killing is bad, i love to hunt, but it seems a little stupid to spend a couple hundred dollars to kill one animal. Id trap it, snare it or have a friend with a gun shoot it to save money. If you are dead set on buying a gun, get a .22 it should kill it rather easily.

Used to trap the little buggers using snares to keep them off the lawns. not always effective, though.

A .22 will do the job. A shotgun will to. Borrow one from a friend if all you need to do is kill one armidillo.

Also a good slingshot using steel ball bearings will work too. I have killed as large as a coyote with mine. And cost about $25.00 plus ball bearings.

.22 is good choice, but i prefer a 12 or 20 gauge slug. you can buy a cheap, reliable single shot 12 or 20 gauge at wally world. just watch that shell come apart!! lol

Get the .22, but if you're in city limits, check the local laws first. You might possibly need to obtain a hunting license.
