How about a confrontation between a man and a space alien only to find out that the alien is from Earth and the story takes place on some other planet?

Explore the idea of someone saying "this is the worst thing that has ever happened to me", and the thing that happened turning into the best thing. What looks bad is not always bad, and what looks good is not always good. The macroscopic view of life versus the microscopic view.
