The youngest your allowed to enlist is 17 with your parents signing forms stating that you are allowd to sign legal documents as a minor (contract, release forms ect) Recruiters are allowd to talk to you at the age on 16 but no younger

I signed with the Marines just after turning 17, but like everyone else said, you do have to have a parents signature.
18 you are legally an adult, and therefore, do not need the parents signature.

depends on the branch, talk to a recruiter and sometimes you can get a waiver to join early with parents permission, etc, but in general 18 is the magic number.
