Time and time again, i always hear people blaming Jews for the death of Jesus Christ.

But, it was the Italian Romans that whipped him to death!!

And the Italians let a Criminal go free (Barrabus) in return for the imprisonment and eventual killing of a man who preached nothing but PEACE!! (Jesus Christ)

Whats up with that Garbage?

(Before you folks respond to me with Matthew 27:15 - Heres a REAL Clarification of it for you to read - http://www.levitt.com/essays/bloodlibel.html)

Also, why are Jews always portrayed as being money hungry devils, yet in REALITY the Italians have the mafia who do HEINOUS things and murder people and wear crucifixes on their necks to top it all off all in the name of - MONEY!!

rossonero_2006 - you misunderstood that passage. what Jesus was saying is that, no one can take his life, without jesus and his father (god) LETTING it happen.
heres the passage, put your glasses on when reading..
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2010:17-18&version=9;

Also, when Jesus was on the cross, he asked his father "forgive them for they know NOT of what they do!!" which means god was coming to punish YOU!!

Jesus did NOT neccessarily have to die the way he did..

Personally, I blame the Italians, but look a t where the pope has his his house. Making the Italians the bad guys as official doctrine would have been a bad political move. so the ROMAN catholic church shifted the blame to the Jews, Instead of placing blame on the ROMANS

I think your whole Italian thing is just to make a point, right?

Anyway, I think the real reason some people blame the Jews for the death of Jesus is because those people are anti-semitic. In order to feel better about themselves and not think of themselves as "really" being bigots (which they are), they have invented an excuse to dislike Jews.

PLEASE, I am not saying that this is how all people think, but in my experience, I have found that people that love to keep repeating how "the Jews killed Jesus" turn out to be people who dislike Jews, period, and I try to stay as far away from them as possible.

The Jews were considered, traditionally, the group that sold Jesus out to the Romans, that incited the Romans to regard him as a threat to the Roman regime.

However, the crucial point that a lot of people forget is that Jesus was a Jew himself, so to condemn the Jews is to condemn Jesus.

Also, this is long before any concept of "Italy" was established - this was just the Roman Empire, and it's ludicrous to blame modern-day Italians for the actions of ancient Romans; all modern-day Jews for the actions of a specific group of ancient Jewish clergy; all people of Italian nationality or heritage for the actions of the Mafia; etc.

If you're so enamoured of Jesus's message, be careful not to throw stones or judge whole groups by the actions of a few members.

Seems that you have far too many issues here, even involving the Mafia now... lol.

But going back to your original question, you must remember that --while I somewhat agree with the gist of what you're saying-- it was the early Roman Catholic Church that became the OFFICIAL STATE RELIGION of Rome following the Council of Nicaea around 325 AD. that originated all the negative propaganda against them.

The Church was given tremendous state powers by Emperor Constantine to rule over the extensive Roman Empire at the time. And one of the early Church's first item in their agenda was to eradicate, obliterate and abolish all non-believers, especially the non-believing JEWS and Sabbath Keepers. Thus, the Jewish Diaspora ensued which forced them to scatter all over the world...

Yet they continued to be hunted down through the centuries... all the way until Hitler's Germany in WWII, as the Vatican turned to look the other way while Jews were being burned in gas chambers.

You can imagine the impact of anti-Jewish propaganda and hatred throughout the millennia... up to, and including, other hate groups that continue to linger, such as the KKK in the U.S. for instance.

In short, the Romans [Italians] have been able to "wash their hands clean" of their guilt... just as that governor, Pontius Pilate, once did according the the scriptures.

Peace be with you.

The early Church fathers routinely accused each other of horrendous behaviours (on top of the minor theological points they were also bickering about). It was political jostling.

They took the same approach towards Judaism. If they didn't want their followers listening to another Christian heretic, they certainly didn't want them continuing to practice Judaism or identify as Jews. So they made up various accusations against Jews.

That's the ugly truth.

#1-the Jews led the way for Christ to be killed. They continually spoke against him no matter what good he did. They knew he was a good man but they were jealous and just plain wicked. The Jews arrested, beat, spit on, slapped & disrespected Jesus.

#2-the Romans were at fault for allowing an innocent man to die, however, they couldn't have cared less what the Jews were doing as long as they weren't trying to circumvent their authority as Romans. Pontinus Pilate could have done something to save Jesus but he was a weak & immoral man.

#3-None of this matters because Jesus had to die in order for mankind to have an opportunity for life. He served as a ransom sacrifice regardless of who was involved with his death or how he died.

#4-Both people of Jewish & Italian descent can be liars, theives, greedy, immoral, etc. By the same token, they can also be good, kind, generous & loving.

#5-Stop being stuck on this racial bigotry stuff and search out real answers in the Bible. Arguing over who did what isn't going to solve anyone's problems.

1. The Bible actually *does* say that the Jews are to blame. That statement is one of the most unfortunate verses in the whole thing, and it has led to untold suffering and misery.

2. The whole "money hungry" stereotype came from a time when Jews were the only ones who would take banking jobs because the Christians were economic illiterates who thought loans with interest were a bad thing.

No culture that is around today resembles the one that may/not have done that.

Besides Paul and the other founding fathers of the Christian church went well out of their way to make sure that the blame was shifted off of Rome's shoulders. It worked; most of the early converts were Roman because of that.

I think (as a former, and recovering) Catholic, that it has to do with the fact that Judas was Jewish and led the authorities (Roman) to Jesus.

Why is anyone blamed when Jesus himself said no man took his life (John 10:17-18)?
