no we are slaves to the politicians and their taxations. I dont ever remember saying that my tax dollars could go to the "aid" of other countries. Hell I dont even remember giving my approval to those outrageous salaries in DC. This begs the question: Why are there not any HB's voted on in the good old US of A like in california where they have votes on what will or will not be allowed.

But why did those people not protest NATO actions in the Balkans?

No. We were at peace when on 911 a group of terrorist attacked us unprovoked. Now we are going after them and that is the right and just thing to do when you are attacked.
