it took me some real digging but here is what i could find
in 1933 the following regiments where already mechanized
- 11th hussars they where the first to be mechanized in 1928
- the 12th royal lancers
the following are territorial and where already in the 1920's part of the armourd car company's ( tank corps )
- the Derbyshire yeomanry
- the royal gloucestershire hussars
- The lothians and border horse
- The fife and Forfar yeomanry
- The northamptonshire yeomanry
- The east riding yeomanry
- 3rd county of londonyeomanry ( sharpshooters )
- The Westminster dragoons ( 2 county of London yeomanry )

possible that I have some units put onto the list that didn't belong there so I would say 8 regiments where mechanized in 1933. In 1939 the Brits army transferred all they units from the mech. cav and the royal tank regiments in one corps the royal armoured corps and they stated a hastily program to mechanize all the remaining regiments

Sometimes horses are used for purely ceremonial purposes, like the Household Cavalry here in Britain I think. People in the Household Cavalry serve on the frontline in armoured vehicles but also serve as guards and take part in ceremonies for the Queen and junk.
