there isn't anything that you can ingest to protect yourself from the sun's rays. use sunblock lotion or cover up.

Tanning oil is designed to get you dark so usually there is no SPF in it or a very low level under 15. You should be using SPF30 and it needs to be applied every hour you are out in the sun or after swimming or sweating heavily. If you want instant colour try self tanners, they can be very effective with the proper prep work. Make sure you exfoliate and moisturize before you apply. Use a heavier moisurizer on knees and elbows (keeps colour from concentrating there). If you do tan out doors or in for that matter never burn. Burning causes sun damage, it is not the way to a great tan!

They are working on a sunblock pill. I don't think it's out yet though.
