I make $45,000 a year. Last Friday I got my paycheck and 23% had been taken out for federal, state, and local taxes and social security and medicare (which I probably will never see). I pay city and local property taxes. Everytime I gas-up I pay fuel taxes. Go shopping-----pay sales taxes. My phone and cable bill includes several taxes. I buy a set of tires or a battery for my car----sale tax and excise tax. Flew to Florida earlier this summer. My airlines ticket had several taxes on it. Wouldn't it be more convenient if my employer just sent my paycheck to the government and then they could send me what they wanted me to have?

In a perfect world we would have only one tax. Unfortunately if that was the case the American population would rise up in revolt. So to keep the vile scumbags that are in power in power they devised the nibble approach... take a penny here... take a penny there... take another there... and pretty soon it adds up.. and us poor dumb taxpayers don't realize it. We've been raped but so slowly that we didnt' even know it until it was too late.

It depends on how fast you'd want that back. I sent a check to the state for toll fees, and it's been 3 months and the check hasn't been cashed yet. I live in Texas, where we have no city or state taxes. If you have company benefits, it'll decrease the amount you pay in to the Federal Government for Withholding. Talk to your payroll department and maybe they can give you some ideas.

yah it would be great it that could happen that way you would know exactly how much you were going to lose right away instead of always being upset when the taxes do get taken out. but then again how much would they know how to take out. i mean they dont know how many times you are going to buy something in a year. so it would take alot of time and good guessing to do that for everyone.

You would spend it out of your personal paycheck in other ways for services. Tolls for roads, paying a check to the police dept and fire dept, etc.

I've often wondered that myself. I think they like to spread it all out so we don't actually realize how much they take from us. It's ridiculous we pay that much and don't even get healthcare!
