How does a baptism happen "by accident?"

Don't worry about your mom. If you didn't mean it when you said you renounce the devil and evil, and when you said that you accept God into your life, then you did nothing more than take a bath. It only has a spiritual significance if it meant something to you.

If you did mean to have the baptism, and you do believe, and you want God in your life, then it shouldn't matter to you what your mom thinks about it. It's your soul, not hers.

Edit: Aha! That makes a bit more sense. If she calls you on it, remind her that water baptism started out as a Jewish practice, that it is an outward show of "repentance for the remission of sins," and that it in no way invalidates your belief system. Good luck.

A baptism is just a bath unless you asked Christ into your life and really meant it. Then my friend you got a lot more to worry about then your Mom. For you see the Bible tells us the God is a jealous God, and the He bought you with a price. Baptisim is just an outward sign and ritual of an inward change that occurs when you become a Christian. A way of identifying with the Death, burrial, and resurection of Christ.

So if you did not mean it when you asked Christ to be your savior that the baptism was just a bath, and you mom wonlt be mad at you if you took a bath, unless you did it in a river, and that could be considered swiming , and if you mom don't want you swiming in a river, or a pool, of hot tub, imean then you might be in trouble.

But you also got to explain to all of those folks that saw get baptised that you didn't mean it either. If theyt are true Christians I guess they won't be mad, but someone is bound to call you a lier and well the your guilty of bearing a false witness, which is breaking one of the commandments, and well as know when we break one of them we break them all, but then come to think about it, you didn't honor you mother when you did something like gettiong baptized in the first place, so you are guilty of breaking all of hem any way, and that make you a sinner, and the Word of God say's "the Wages of sin is death...

(drivin you up a wall yet).... sounds like you need a savior, just like me and every one else in this world. We are all of us guilty of sin, and wee need a substitute, a scape goat, someone to bear the burden of our sin for us...

..."For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that WHO SO EVER, believes in Him will not perrish, but have everlasting life."

If that was the reason you got wet son, well them I'm sorry, you can't take it back. I believe if you tell your mom why you did it, she might just forgive you. If she needed to she might confess her sin, and become a believer too. Maybe even get baptised. I you actually Got Saved, you can never take it back, nor will Jesus ever leave you or forsake you. He will show you how to tell the truth and bear up under the punishment if it comes to that, for it's not you that would be persecuted, but you being persecuted for Him. And He is with you always even to the end of the earth.

God Bless

You bring up a very interesting point, not now, but for later on if you do believe.

OK, look at it this way. If you die without belief, then the baptism was never effective. If you die with belief, then the baptism was effective, because you would have been baptized at the repentence point anyway. The "when" is not important, since the whole thing is in God's hands, not yours.

That's silly if you think you've controlled the Almighty with that rite.

Don't worry about it, if you want to undo it then it never really happen. You may think they Baptized you but you just went in and lost sinner and came out a lost sinner the bet thing to do is ask Jesus to be your Savior then take it from there

Most churches claim that baptism leaves a permanent mark on you, but you don't have to believe them. If you don't believe in the dogma of the church that baptized you, then what's the difference? It's just like an ordinary shower.

If you need to get officially excommunicated, then the thing to do is to make a small donation to Plannet Parenthood or some other worthy cause (making sure it's one the Catholic Church despises). Supporting Planned Parenthood gets you automatically excommunicated, especially if you tell your local bishop.

All these answers are stupid. If you think you were baptized by accident, then you weren't babtized. You just got wet! Baptism is a symbol of obediance to God. Now if you were baptized by the fire of the Holy Spirit that would be different and you wouldn't want to ask this question.

A baptism is merely a symbolic thing. It symbolizes your obedience to Christ. Want it to mean nothing at all? Simply go back to living for Satan by rejecting Christ, and Christ's way for your life. It's that easy.

Baptism is a very good thing. God commands us to do so in the Bible. Why would your mother be upset?

If it was a catholic baptism, you could petition the pope to be ex-communicated, but I'm not sure about others.
