I just purchased a bike and I don't know to much about them. Are they pretty much like cars, where the tire pressure should read a certain amount? If it helps the bike is a15 speed with 26 inch tires, no shocks. I weigh about 225 pound. Thank you.

Just go to any bike shop and they will tell you. It depends on the bike, and the specifics of the tires-more info then what you provided here. And be careful. I once put air in my tire and it exploded as soon as I got on the bike.

26" and 15 speed. Sounds like a highbred or a mountain bike. The max tyre pressure should be on the side of the tyre but:

If a mountain bike tyre 45 psi is the optimum pressure for road/XC.

If Road tyres - 90 psi.

Look on the side of the tire man. If it doesn't list the max air pressure, buy some cheap new tires.

if you want the tires to be kinda cushiony put 20 - 25 psi if you want it to be hard put 35 - 40 psi but it just says the recommended psi on the tire anyway
