Any Joe Smith down the street might have something imporant to say in regards to spirituality. I don't think one single book should encompass your entire learning experience.

All traditions have something to offer. There is variation even within Christianity. For instance the New Jerusalem Bible as used by the Catholic tradition has books in the Old Testament that are not included in Protestant texts. Techniques from Eastern traditions, such as meditation, can usefully be employed. Neither Confucius nor the Buddha would speak about the hereafter, considering it outside the scope of human knowledge. Their teachings were aimed at the here-and-now in order to prepare ones spirit for the afterlife.

Knowledge of other traditions must both enhance ones spiritual path and, if nothing else, lead to understanding of different peoples and traditions. Knowledge is a virtue and attribute of God. Ignorance is only praised in Hell.

Christ said, "There are many things I want to tell you, but you can't bear them now."

God is not limited, therefore His Word cannot be (limited.)
"Shining is the pure white light of Spirit, and religions are the rainbow of colours sparkling from the crystalline minds of man."

One needs to test them, and see if they ring true. At some point in your life, some will, and then, they may be gone tomorrow. Depending on what you need in your life today.
God's Word is living. It is interactive. Brings life.

I also believe that some things need to be unlearned. Let me explain. I like to use the Boogie Man theme. Mother said, you'd better do this or else... Later, the Boogie man comes to be the police, or something to scare you into acceptable behaviour. Laws change too. For instance, as you grow, so does what you are allowed to do. ("Do not cross the street," to "not by yourself," to "only when you ask," to, "be back by 10.") Same as God's laws. There are lesser laws and greater laws.

As far as, "as credible," probably not, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were. It is good to stick to what you know already. Like Gandhi says, "If you're a Muslim, be a good Muslim, if a Christian, be a good Christian, if you're a Buddhist, be a good Buddhist" (or some such.) I have my own truths and so have others.

For me, the Bible is my only source of spiritual food, since I must live on "every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God." I do read books that teach from the Bible, and that helps me often understand what the Bible is talking about and helps me deal with moderns issues. But, I go to the Bible for my real spiritual food.

There is not "one Bible" anymore. There are so many versions that they do not say the same thing. Just about every demonition has their own version that dispells from the other. So who's to say which is correct anymore. People believed in Jim Jones and David Koresh too. Believe in Jesus not in man.

Just follow the Golden Rule. Treat everyone the way that you want to be treated.

Everyone has some knowledge. You can read the Bible and get it wrong. It says, "Test the inspired utterances.." and "Try all things..." and "there's a time for everything...". "With all your getting [of knowledge] get understanding." That's the last thing people do, no, they don't get that far. Just kidding. No I'm not. Yeah I am. not am not

Why seek spirituality? You are a human in the physical universe. Why not concentrate on that and worry about being a spirit if and when it becomes an issue?

Just a thought.

Book of Mormon
Doctrine & Covenants
Pearl of Great Price
Living Prophet (LDS)

In addition certain works of ShakeSpeare, Plato, and other philosophers/writers have given me great insight into sprituality and the human condition (these would not be the words of God but inspirational non the less)

Absolutley! I think the basic foundations of each religion are the same (true religion) and the manifestations of each may speak to each person differently. I do not believe there is one religion. There are several and each should be respected as well as their believers!
