I want to have laser surgery - Custom Lasik on my eyes. What is the difference between Custom Lasik and no blade technology?
How to find reliable surgon in NYC- northern jersey area? How much does it cost?

No blade technology means the laser, not a blade, is used to cut the flap. Using the laser for the cut decreases risk and virtually eliminates surgical complications due to flap.

Custom LASIK means that your eye aberrations are measured and the laser treatment is customized to correct your individual aberrations. You can have Custom LASIK with no blade or with a blade.

Ask your regular eye doctor to recommend a surgeon. Your eye doctor sees many people who have had LASIK done and with different surgeons so he/she will know which surgeons are better at following up complications. Cost varies with surgeon; expect to pay more for the better surgeons with more up to date equipment.

Custom Lasik and no-blade technology are very different.

The first step to Lasik is to create a thin flap of corneal tissue (clear front of eye). This flap can be created with a surgical steel blade (traditional Lasik), or with a femtosecond laser (All-Laser Lasik). Several studies have shown the long-term results are nearly identical, however for some the laser created flap may be more appropriate.

Custom Lasik refers to the system that determines how much and where the excimer laser removes tissue (ablation) to reshape the cornea. Conventional ablation uses your eye prescription. Wavefront-guided custom Lasik uses your prescription plus a system that measures irregularities throughout your optics. Patients who have wavefront-guided custom Lasik tend to have better outcomes, but custom Lasik is not appropriate for everyone.

I dont know but I got Lasik 3/17/07 its been almost 5 months now and even though the doctor says i have 20/20 vision I still have very dry eyes which i guess causes the blurry vision.....

Lasik is good and it helps a lot . No pain no glasses or contacts and it improves vision. The cost is around $3500 but there are many options also. You can pay monthly $48 and. But consult with a good opthalmologist before you go for one.
