We have a great telling of that in the Bible. Abraham had no Bible, and he lived a long time before the Son of God came to Earth as Jesus of Nazareth.

If you read Hebrews 11 you will see some of those people. Habakkuk 2:4 revealed the secret before Jesus as well. "The Just shall live by faith."

So it was before that revelation according to the Bible.

And then there is this:
Matthew 27
51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split.
52 The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

It must have been scary. But those who were in the ground and dead for many years were resurrected according to Matthew.

Well it was the same as today, really. Jesus was a messenger sent from God to show people the way, that is, to affirm the existence of God. There were many believers before Jesus, and surely many non-believers, in a Supreme Being. But if a person believed or not wasn't the basis of going to heaven. Surely, today there are many non-believers and if they go to heaven or not depends on their deeds, not their beliefs, so much.

Salvation is there, but your actions will be your judge.

God was already there leading his people, teaching the commandments, making covenants, showing the way to salvation, disciplining his children, etc. This was before Jesus physically came down from Heaven as a man. Read the Bible, it will tell you.

That would be the Leviticus Laws, Given to Moses by God. Moses also wrote Genesis etc. by inspiration of God's spirit.
men could not keep the laws and the sacrifices only lasted till the next time of the ceremonies , so God provided a permanent sacrifice Jesus for sin..
now we only need one sacrifice, and can come "boldly to the throne of grace in our time of need for mercy.

also the Rabbis would sing and teach everyone orally the word and OT customs of God before they were written on paper, in the bible form we know today. That's why the bible says; Write Gods word on the tablets of your heart.

People who lived before Jesus (OT) got salvation through animal sacrifice. Read the first five books of the Bible and study the Temple, the sacrifice, and etc. and you'll see why this method had to be used.

The Israelites had animal sacrifices (the blood representing the blood of Jesus). Once Jesus came on the scene and before His crucifiction, it was believing that He was the Messiah. After the crucifiction, it is believing that he *is* the Son of God, that he took our sins with Him to the cross, and that God raised Him on the 3rd day.

I can't answer before the Israelites...it's not addressed (I don't think) in the Bible.

God spoke through angels, then prophets, today God speaks to men, through his Son, Jesus Christ. And everything man needs to know to be saved, was said by Jesus. And we have Jesus words today. In the Holy Bible.

the only people that were"saved" if you want to call it that were the Jewish people.all others were lost until Jesus came to give all salvation! until that time people had the old testament law to abide by to remain "clean" but no one entered heaven until Jesus died and rose from the dead .the place was called Paradise but was not heaven or hell

All through the old testament or any ancient scriptures they all believe what the bible later said. I put life and death before you. they believed the good would be resurrected to eternal life on a paradise earth and the wicked simply died.
the hell fire thing wasn't even thought of until long time after Jesus death and it was borrowed from pagan teachings.
Psalms 37:9,.10,11,29
They believe God when he said that Adam and Eve would return to the dust.
or simply cease to exist.

That is an excellent question. Some explain it by saying that if you have never heard of the Bible you are excused, this also applies to remote areas on earth today.

Funny though because christians travel to those areas and tell people about the Bible, then if they don't accept it they go to hell, so the Christians are damning people by trying to save them.
