I was going through my book shelf, and I picked one of the Bibles at random(We have a few in the household) It is my stepfathers. This is what the first page read.

"The -------- Education Committee present you with this Book, the most valuable thing this world affords, desiring that you use it whilst at school and retain it when you leave. Herien is the wisdom which will lead you to all truth, provide comfort and guidance and teach you the whole duty of man."

I went to the same school some years later, they do not give them out anymore. This book is around 40 years old. This was given to people in his day when they joined the school.

Your thoughts?

I see what you're saying. If the book is so important then why did they stop giving it out.

What about it? It's just the sort of thing one would expect to find in a bible.

It's nice that the US is finally following the Constitutions rule of 'Seperation of Church and State' but sad they weren't always doing it.
