I'm going to Scotland in September to study for a year. I'm arriving in Glasgow via Dublin and have heard that this can be problematic as immigration officers aren't usually present in Dublin to stamp passports. My question is, if I already have entry clearance prior to traveling but don't get some sort of stamp upon entering the UK, am I going to be booted out after 3 months?

I wish I had an answer for you, since every country is different and the way they handle things. Are you traveling with IES...the student network for exhange students? If so, they should have sent you a packet of information on customs and procedures when you arrive in country.

Hopefully you're traveling with a group, as this can be comforting and helpful. I wish you the very, very best in your studies abroad.

ps google search info on custom procedures when you have time.
Also, there should be someone there at the airport to greet and meet the incoming students as they arrive.. My son is heading to Rome in Sept to study also, and everything has been taken care of by the host country and the IES.
