well its my senior year in high school and i have done only 1 volunteer job (working at a hospital), that i dont think i finished. I really want to get into Georgetown University and extracurriculars are very important. I would like to do something more useful and helpful to the community than bring flowers to patients. Any ideas? PLEASE HELP!

Join Key Club. This is a student run organization that does volunteer work and fund raising in local communities. For further information you can go to the Kiwanis International web page.

what are you going to major in? find a volunteer job that will help you with that career. Habitat is great or working at a center for the needy. Habitat isn't all building. they might have a store that helps raise funds. libraries need volunteers or schools (elementary or preschool).

If you're in Maryland check out www.msar616.com. If not, keep doing the hospital thing and volunteer elsewhere. Or get a job that is in line with what you'd like to do for a career. Whatever your interests are, you can find good things related to "pad your resume".

Help at a food bank. Church activities are usually positive as well, if you can participate in a work trip or on going outreach program, like working with the homeless or doing some kind of poverty work.

Mentor program for children with one parent in prison. They really need someone to look up to and the single parent could use the time on bettering themselves.
