Souls don't exist. That's all just superstition.
When you die, you're just dead.

I think they do!! As well as clean our souls up before we go all the way in. I had a dream of death. Jesus said.." Go back it is not your time yet..The angels will help you and guide you. Keep to the path of righteousness hold fast to my words. Some will see the Angles..Some will see loved ones...Tell the people when asking of death and the life beyond your human body that your soul will see all in the end.You will be guided by His right hand.. It depends on your level of enlightenment as to who will guide you to our Fathers place."

Azraël, I believe, is another name for the devil, before he betrayed God and was casted down from heavens.
Sometimes, angels don't receive pacific commands from God, so, at some point, Gabriel was God's angel of death. It's also Gabriel's flaming sword that's supposed to keep humans from re-entering the Garden of Eden.

Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Gabriel is the messenger angel.

The two present our souls, but we deliver at the call of the Most High. There are seven archangels, Gabriel is the herald of God, Azreel or Satan (the adversary), God's prosecutor. Our deeds are presented before God's throne by those who represent us. Jesus said ,"I saw Satan (Lucifer, Sammael, Azazel, Azreel, by his other names), fall like lightning from the sky. His place was there no more." God's angels are ministering spirits and flames of fire. In addition to the two mentioned are Raphael, Uriel, Michael, Raguel, and Zachariel [from the Book of Enoch]. In all the sevenfold spirit of God emanating from the throne. The Angel of Death ( in Arabic, Maalik al-Maut) or Sammael, the sword of God was seen as the greatest and most terrible, the burning presence of God, the one who went through Sodom and Gomorrah at the destruction and Egypt on the night of the Passover. This is the adversary, the one called Lucifer. Michael, who is like unto God, is the Captain of God's armies who met Joshua before the battle, battled Satan over the body of Moses [Book of Enoch and Letter of St. Jude] and championed the saints of God when Satan was thrown from heaven. Raphael is the angel of healing who accompanied Tobit on his journey. Uriel is the mountain of God, the place if His sanctuary. Gabriel, God's messenger and herald. These four represent the cardinal points, and are used in the Kabbalah to dispel the fifth, or banish the pentagram. Islam also recognizes the power of the other angels over the power of the Angel of death. In the Qu'ran's account of the Creation Satan is spoken of as Iblis, who in his pride refused to bow before the man Allah made in His image and vowed perpetual enmity toward him and thus rebellion to Allah.
[It is amazing some people are evolved enough to have opposable thumbs. Leave them to their ignorance. This question was not asked from the canonical scriptures, despite the inaccuracies, and so I went beyond and behind the scriptures and to other scriptures unknown to them to provide a more complete and truthful answer. This is not a standard fundamentalist question.]

Life is Really Very Simple. What We Give Out, We Get Back
What we think about ourselves becomes the truth for us. I believe that everyone, myself included, is responsible for everything in our lives, the best and the worst. Every thought we think is creating our future. Each one of us creates our experiences by our thoughts and our feelings. The thoughts we think and the words we speak create our experiences.

If I understand correctly, angels are messengers of God and do God's bidding. Jesus is the deliverer of our souls, though. Not angels.

If anyone really knew what happened after death for sure, there wouldn't be so much debate about it.

Angels deliver them. Some of them do, anyway. Depends on their rank (I think they have ranks, anyway). But others stay and help God and deliver messages and such.

Angels are messengers, and they do God's will, and give God praise. We make our own choices.
