Most religions are a set of rules to make you holy or a good person.
The focal point of Christianity is not the 10 commandments. That is the focal point of Judaism.
The focal point of Christianity is the fact that Jesus died on the cross to take our punishment. He did that because He loves us so much. And humans can claim that payment that He made if they love Him in return. This implies that there has to be a relationship between Jesus and the human. This relationship is pivotal to the Christian faith.
Hence Christianity does not fit the mold of most religions where you have to be holy to meet God, instead Christianity works the other way round. you meet God and He will make you holy.
In that sense, "Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship"

Because Jesus never meant a "religion"
when God created the heaven's and the earth, there was no religion.
Religion is an abstract set of rules that where created by men. The word religion comes from greek meaning rules. Religion's only goal is to put rules, therefore controll people. God never intended a Religion.
Jesus broke the rules of religion that's why all those jewish priests hated him.

Religion is consider for many Christians as a series of rites to follow in order to gain salvation, but Christianity on the other hand is freedom from "having to do this or that". Knowing that Jesus paid for the salvation of every person on earth free people from having a to do list because the Bible says that salvation is free to whomever wants it - by believing in Jesus as Lord ans Savior. Christianity is more of a personal relationship with God/Jesus rather than a superficial relationship through rites.

Christians feel special when they say things like Christianity is not a religion it's a way of life. They like to set themselves apart is being sole heirs to the "truth".

Religion is the going to church every Sunday. But we say Christianity is more about the relationship you have with Jesus. That puts more emphasis on the relationship not the religion. Focusing on just the religion end of it makes us more like robots.
BTW...I tend to go to church on Saturday nights.

Its like all religions...organised superstition, coupled with a lust for power and to spew hatred at others who dont believe in it or have other beliefs!
They talk about love and peace.... and then merrily kill in the name of God, Allah or whatever!
They preach morality and decency,..... while their priests are busily shagging everything they can lay their grubby fingers on.
Well the Catholic church is a fine example to quote, they had to pay millions to people abused by priests.
Think I prefer to be an Atheist than belong to any of those religious hypocrites of whatever creed!

That it's a basic belief. The "religions" are one step under it. You've got: catholics, roman catholics, protestants, lutherians, Jehovah witnesses, etc.
Just like Buddhism isn't a religion. You've got the buddhist philosophy and spiritual buddhism and I'm not sure in how many branches that's divided...

Everyone has their own opinion. When people don't understand other faith, they usually say things like that. It's the same way Christianity rejects all the other faiths. Don't listen to others. If you are happy with your faith, who cares what others are saying.
